Mitt Romney is a man of competence, decency and integrity. There’s a thousand things one could justly criticize him for too. But he’s a noble man in an era of crude fools.
I voted for Romney but not enthusiastically. In hindsight I wish I had left it blank. Total squish.

NEW: In leaked recordings, Peter Thiel argued that Nashville should be a moral alternative to Pope Leo XIV and the Catholic Church, which he called “a dubious ally” against a hypothetical future Antichrist Democratic president. “America is the last and final form of the Roman Empire,” Thiel told a closed-door crowd in Nashville’s Masonic Temple. “There is no successor.” He has attacked Pope Leo XIV at least four times this year, once calling him “a useful idiot for the CCP.” thelettersfromleo.com/p/the-…

No, you dork. We don’t want you dead. We just think you’re a completely unserious person and we want you to take a job with Newsmaxxxx or Alex Jones or moderating a Reddit conspiracy forum and leave the legislating to functional adults who don’t tweet 200 times a day.
They also want us dead

Yeah, there will be no pivot to the center. This is what you get when you have an 80-year-old president who doesn't really gaf about the future of the Republican Party.

I keep looking at the Senate map and thinking to myself, “Damn, if only Democrats had gotten 2 more points in Lousiana, they could have had a real shot at getting a Senate supermajority in 2028” and then realizing how utterly INSANE that would have sounded to me a week ago

Hell of a thing to demand states hand over voters’ personal information and require proof of citizenship, then refuse to vote yourself because you don’t want your address on the very voter rolls you think the federal government should have access to.

On Sept. 29, I taped a long podcast for @TheFP, hosted by @Olivia_Reingold. It was about the Jordan Neely/Daniel Penny case, which we both covered. It was a powerful conversation because there were real differences and I had space and time to challenge some of the Free Press’s priors about cities, crime, homelessness, and mental illness. Therefore, it’s upsetting to learn that they have buried the interview. I understand that their orthodoxies might’ve been challenged, but this is the only interview out of dozens for this book where this happened. They’re giving excuses about not loving the direction the conversation took and are now completely ghosting. I have appealed to Olivia, but the issue seems to be senior management. It was a real, very human conversation, with live grappling across difference. That should be embraced and celebrated, not hidden or censored. If @bariweiss and the Free Press can be persuaded to put the conversation out there in full, I would welcome the repair. Thank you for considering in good faith.

the part they never teach you: inflation is permanent. $6 coffee doesn’t go back to $3. your only defense is earning more. but the moment workers ask for that they call it a threat to the economy. whose economy.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if the market is wildly selling off AI stocks because of the election results then it’s safe to assume the value wasn’t in the product but in the administrations willingness to let Silicon Valley fellate each other on your dime.

These people are delusional. The Republicans party doesn’t supporting a single thing that would help the working class. They had a con man who pretended to and now that’s over.
If you’re a young right winger, you should look at this defeat as a huge opportunity. The voters burned it all down. So be it. Now, the rebuilding begins. The Republican Party is about to look a LOT different — more pro-worker, more pro-family, more populist — and that’s very exciting.

The entire point is that we won’t need to be held hostage by the fossil fuel industry if we have renewable energy. We also won’t kill the planet. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, Rand.

Reposting this for no particular reason Liz Cheney: “I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible. There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.”

Trump has been talking down to the American people for his entire second term, something he never did in the first. It started with the Epstein debacle. Now that he’s losing and unpopular, he’s going to point the finger at his own citizens with no concern for what his meltdown will do to the future of the conservative movement or the Republican Party. It’s going to get worse and uglier. The worst thing conservatives can do now is feel any obligation at all to defend this bullshit. It’s indefensible and we all know it.
