Excited to have successfully defended my PhD last week! So grateful to my advisor, committee, collaborators, friends and family for tuning in and being so supportive throughout this process! #PhDone 🎓
It’s official!
I’ll be defending my PhD on volcano flank instability on May 18th! 🌋🛰️👩🏻💻
Happy to share the zoom link with those interested in attending virtually.
And yes, my talk will begin with “On this day in 1980” 🤓
Can confirm the fun level increases with the number of people you add to your zorb 🤓

Plenary by @MattEPritchard: only 30% of volcanoes are well ground-monitored, with significant bias. Satellite based monitoring can help us fill that gap #IAVCEI2023
After a 12h layover, a delayed 16.5h flight, a cancelled flight, and the immense luck of being in the right place at the right time to get on a conference trip bus for the last leg of the journey, I made it to Rotorua for #iavcei2023 🌋
If you’re interested in InSAR 🛰️, thermal anomalies, time-series, lava flow mapping and volcanic flank instability 🌋 or want a (tiny) sneak peak into my new phase as a Finite Element Modeler, come find me at poster #67, Monday Jan 30 or on the #iavcei2023 app!

🚨 We are aware of major disruptions to travel in and out of Auckland. We have set up this form for people who are able to provide or need help travelling to the conference from within New Zealand: bit.ly/3kQh8vh (for security, you will be prompted to request access).
This week I got to present my #NASAFINESST funded PhD research on volcanic flank instability at the NASA Solid Earth Team Meeting and learn all about the exciting ongoing and upcoming missions relevant to the Earth Sciences community 🛰

Interesting in pursuing a PhD at @UCBerkeley investigating volatiles/melt inclusions/sulfury-goodness in Hawaiian volcanoes, the Cascades, the Andes or whatever your fav SiO2<60 volcano is? Please get in touch! tinyurl.com/2dcxvbww 🧵

If you are a grad student affiliated with a US university, interested in doing research in glaciology, sea level, or solid Earth processes, belong to a marginalized/underrepresented group (FN is fine!), and would like to do an internship at @NASAJPL, let me know. RT, please.

Christelle Wauthier and her grad student @Jmglez_95 visited Guatemala's active #PacayaVolcano to help gather samples and measurements for this @NASA-funded research. Judit, who uses #remotesensing data in her research, said it's the first time she's been to the volcano.
TRI work on Pacaya Volcano with #USF collaborators.
Big thanks to @insivumehgt and the National Park workers for all their help with logistics and lugging all the equipment up the volcano!
