Feeling immense gratitude for the past 3 years, following a passion, igniting a spark in others and supporting them on their individual journeys. Solutions to global challenges seem closer when our classrooms are language-ing and developing cultural understanding + empathy in CYP
A wonderful introduction to the 24/25 #SLLP cohort as we met with Team @SheenaSCILT and heard about everyone's diverse roles and experience. What came through strongly is a real commitment to personal development and to ensuring excellent equitable experiences for learners

Languages aren't inherently difficult. They're new ways of engaging with the world. Whether you're travelling, relating to other people or training your brain, languages benefit us all. You don't need to be a linguist. Plus, learning a language gives you an edge across the board.
20+ yrs ago, local schools worked creatively to offer a wider curriculum and I 'crashed' Higher Spanish, building my lang repertoire. Now, after 10 days in Panama, reflecting on how knowledge of another lang and people opens doors, fosters understanding and connects us #lovelangs
A great reminder that #multilingualisnormal 🗺️💬

Lots of us know someone who speaks a language we don’t. Today’s challenge will help us to connect with this person, their language and their culture, and reflect on the benefits of living in a multicultural, multilingual society. scilt.org.uk/LWS/DailyChalle…

We are working with Bilingualism Matters to offer professional learning and networking opportunities to teachers in complementary and Saturday schools, and we would like to find out from these teachers what kind of PL would be most useful scilt.org.uk/News/NewsView/t…
"There is no one size fits all but providing information in the languages of key stakeholders, and adjusting the communication medium and platform to their capacities is key to reaching everyone in the community."
"Language barriers can make public communication inaccessible and exclude people from equitable participation in education, employment, healthcare, welfare, and all aspects of social life."

Languages are about broadening your outlook, making new discoveries, learning where words come from & how we're all connected, appreciating other traditions & points of view & celebrating a diverse world. Whatever else you're into, languages bring us together & take you further.
What to do on the first Monday evening of the holidays..? Attend a webinar to hear about primary languages, of course! Great to learn of some 🏴 and 🏴 teacher-led projects 🔡📖📚 and of wider 🌍 research too. @riplnetwork
