Joe Higgins

Some welcome recommendations in this report (which is due to 2018 protests) such as specialist training, legal advice and increased anonymity for survivors. We need an end to victim blaming and rape myths in courts I'll be reading over the report today #dubw #thisisnotconsent

Don't have regrets. Now's the time to ensure you (and/or people you know) vote in #Seanad2020 election to remove conservatives such as Rónán Mullen. 90,000 still not cast. Today can you help get more votes in? I'm seeking your number 1 to challenge for seat #se2020 #repealronan

In 2018 there were 3,000 new millionaires. In 2019 there are 3,873 homeless children. The wealth exists to end the homeless crisis. #dubw #endhomelessness

I met with a number of school secretaries around Dublin West today for their 1 hour stoppage. I even bumped into @JoeHigginsSP at one school! I'll be raising the two-tier treatment of secretaries in the Dáil next week. #supportoursecretaries @forsa_union_ie #dubw

#RTEInvestigates on greyhound industry is stomach churning. The €16.9m the state gave rotten greyhound industry this year would pay the raise for health workers on strike today. #dubw

I was canvassing in Ashtown this evening for @RitaHarrold1 in the local and European elections. I think we had the youngest canvasser in the country with us tonight! #dubw #LE19 #EP2019

I'm calling door to door tonight in Corduff with John Burtchaell and other @SocialistParty activists. We hope to discuss the nurses' and midwives' strike and the demonstration on Saturday this evening. #StandWithNursesAndMidwives #dubw

Determined mood at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. Massive public support and disgust at Leo Varadkar's continued neglect of our health service. Nurses' and midwives' pay claim is fully justified as is those of other workers. #dubw #standwithnursesandmidwives

Here are some previously unpublished photos from the campaign in May to mark the Bill becoming law today. #RepealedThe8th #dubw

Right to choose legislation has passed all stages in the Dáil. Final vote 90 for, 15 against, 12 abstentions. This Bill was made possible by years of campaign work by young people, women and working class people fighting for change. #legisl8 #dubw #RepealedThe8th

Build public homes on public land! #HomesForAll #dubw

The dinosaurs have no more references to DVDs, now it's these new "internet websites" that those seeking abortions will have to look at. 🙄 #legisl8 #dubw #repealedthe8th

Clothes are not consent. Here are some photos from the #ThisIsNotConsent rally earlier. #dubw

I hear cameras cut away from me when I displayed this underwear in #Dáil. In courts victims can have their underwear passed around as evidence and it's within the rules, hence need to display in Dáil. Join protests tomorrow. In Dublin it's at Spire, 1pm. #dubw #ThisIsNotConsent

End Victim Blaming in the Courts. Come to the lunchtime rally on Wednesday 14th, 1pm-2pm, The Spire, O'Connell Street. What you wear does not give consent. It's time harmful rape myths are challenged. #ThisIsNotConsent #Ibelieveher #dubw

Millions died in industrialised war due to imperial interests. Sickening to hear Trump and Macron to use this weekend to discuss military spending. Remember those who died, but crucially we must oppose war and capitalism, the cause of war #Armistice100 #RemembranceDay2018 #dubw
