Imagine asking your mother for advice years after she passed away and hearing the answer in her own voice. Except the words aren’t hers. They’re being generated by artificial intelligence. That’s the idea behind grief tech, an emerging industry developing AI chatbots, voice clones, and digital avatars that let people interact with recreations of deceased loved ones. In this episode of Dad Think, I explore the ethical questions around AI recreations of deceased loved ones, how technology could change the way we experience grief, and what it really means to preserve someone’s memory.

My favorite part about going out with the kids is when they act like they've never been out of the house or around other people.

My grandfather passed away when I was only two years old. What if I could bring him back so I could ask him questions about his life? Believe it or not, there’s an entire industry dedicated to doing just that. Boomers voted for this. Instead of expert health care provided by highly trained, conscientious, professional white doctors, they will get MAIDed by semiliterate Indian villagers who jugaaded their way through fake medical degrees. After this ignoble end, there will be no funerals, just tacky 'celebrations of life', catered with egg salad sandwiches and stale timbits, where the guests chitchat and studiously ignore the deceased's cruise ship vacation photos rotating through the PowerPoint presentation.
Mom saw an Indian doctor oncologist today that could barely speak english. We could not understand him. No treatment plan was advanced, only soft talk of MAID. I am so fucking pissed off.

A statistic that sounds fake but isn't: Not one single white American man born after 1984 has published a work of literary fiction in The New Yorker. It's not because they stopped writing. It's because The New Yorker has refused to publish them. The publishing industry has blacked out a generation of male writers & then they wonder why boys don't read.
About 70% of publishing professionals are women. Because agents and editors tend to select books they personally relate to, an increasing number of male authors are being sidelined in the publishing industry, resulting in an overwhelming number of female protagonists on our shelves—and a dearth of male ones. No wonder young men are no longer reading.

Jennifer Welch has learned nothing. Charlie wasn’t murdered by the 2nd Amendment or because someone mishandled a firearm. He was murdered by a political assassin - a culture they roundly endorse with every laugh, snicker, and vile joke at his expense. But of course, she knows that. She and her co-host laughed uncontrollably because they’re actually happy Charlie is dead. If they apologize for being part of a toxic and evil culture that perpetuates violence against conservatives, I might actually be willing to listen. Until then, I hope and I pray every sponsorship dollar continues to dry up until they are left without a cent to make any more insulting, half-hearted donations to their pet causes. This isn’t about politics, it’s about basic human decency, something they still very clearly lack.

We do not sponsor or support the “I’ve Had It” podcast. We unequivocally condemn violence in all forms. The comments made by the hosts do not reflect Chewy’s values or what we stand for as a company.

The happiest people I've met don't necessarily have the easiest lives or the most impressive accomplishments. But they tend to have four things in common: -They take their faith or life philosophy seriously. -They invest in their family relationships. -They cultivate real friendships. -They find meaning in work that creates value and serves others. These are the four areas of life worth paying attention to if you want to live a more fulfilling life.

Male authors are being sidelined in the publishing industry, resulting in an overwhelming number of female protagonists on our shelves—and a dearth of male ones. By policing who and what gets published, the hegemons of the publishing industry encourage one-sided stories that focus on the female experience and do not have much to bring to a male readership. No wonder young men are no longer reading.
