Ethiopia’s Chief of Staff, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, now says the war in the north was started by a “Tsimdo alliance coordinated from Cairo, Khartoum and Asmara,” using “separatists and terrorists who bear the mission of the alien” and are “driven and loaded by Ethiopia’s historic enemy.” It would be laughable if it weren’t so cynical. This is the same Ethiopia that hosts RSF training camps on its soil, whose Asosa base Yale researchers found assisting RSF fighters, and from whose territory, Sudan says, drones were launched at Khartoum airport. Just this morning, RSF drones knocked out five power stations in Al-Jazira, Gedaref and White Nile, plunging three states into darkness. In Gedaref, on the Ethiopian border, a father has no way to keep his diabetic son’s insulin cold.
