Back home on Long Island as of 7am this morning. I have to say it was an amazing experience in North Dakota as a whole as well as inside the Alerus Center. Interesting game to say the least. 42-0 UND after the half. QB change for LIU from Ethan Greenwood to Luca Stanzani allowed the Sharks to score 21 answered but ultimately fell 42-21. UND’s run defense shut down the run-heavy offense that LIU was predominantly running in the first half with Greenwood at the helm. Once Stanzani came in the game, the offense shifted to being pass-heavy, and they were able to finally get it going on offense. Albeit, UND pulled most starters at halftime, and that may have had an effect on LIU moving the ball downfield. Even though UND put their backup QB in Javance Tupou’ata Johnson, LIU’s defense was very effective in the second half, even tallying an interception by 6th-year linebacker Rafael Fasolino. They shutout UND in the second half. I said this on my broadcast, this is one of those games that in LIU’s perspective you completely forget about that first half, and take away and continue the success with what was working in the second half. 21-0 is what LIU should be viewing this game as. NEC competition is five notches down from what we saw yesterday. UND is one heck of a team. Just watching them in the first half amazed me. Caleb Goodloe’s speed was too much for the Sharks defense. I was very impressed with Grant Noland’s coverage, he shut down anything his way. Braden Mohr was getting to LIU quarterbacks with ease. Jerry Kaminski was Jerry Kaminski. This is a top team in the FCS. I’ll tell you that. Thank you to the whole UND Football staff for making our trip to Grand Forks a great experience. Thank you to @UNDFootball360 and @FlagshipUND for helping me out with information for the Fighting Hawks. As well as assistant AD Paul Ralston for ensuring my (WCWP’s) broadcast would happen and giving us a great press box. A top class organization from top to bottom. @UNDfootball Week 2 next. To Kansas we go.
