As a software engineer you need to be prepared to no longer write any code. I sat down with my team's and asked them the question, what would it take for you to feel confident to not read the code? Process, documentation and testing ranked in the top 3 changes, what would you need to do?

Behind what though? Not all industries need a button to be moved and reshaped every other day.
If you're still even talking about code, you're behind

Engineering leaders - Daily standup advice. Don't use terms like "yesterday I worked on" or "today I'll work on" Instead change it to "yesterday I achieved" or "today I will achieve" "worked on" reports effort. "achieved" reports outcomes. one gets you a status update, the other gets you a team that thinks in deliverables. If you say "today I'm working on the driver" every day for 2 weeks nobody notices the struggle or the slip. It does sound like a tiny wording change, but it forces people to slice work into things that actually finish.

Why do some companies seem to have more developer relations / advocates than actual developers?

This is an absolute joke. Utterly pointless and if anything will hurt you if you are using this as part of your job interview.

I'm still a big fan of serverless and using Aws CDK your AI agent can build the infrastructure you need that's tailored to your project. Just remember to review it before you deploy 🤑

I always get the feeling this this is going to be so important in the future.

Slop is not new. We have always been dealing with dodgy PR's from people throwing in some half baked rushed code. The big problem now is that it come at a 10x even 100x rate.

How many of you "vibe coders" even know what CRA is. Are you ready? You have 11 days to sort out your vulnerability reporting processes. Good luck 😆

A lot of people talking about "Vibe Coding" - the biggest problem is we have no formal definition of what is vibe coding and what is AI assisted development. How do you define it?

For me Vibe Coding is bad - its full reliance on the AI with no verification or "human in the loop" AI assisted is when you have frameworks and guiderails around the code, you understand what its doing and how the system is architected. You should always be able to jump into the code at any point. Vibes don't allow for this, AI Assisted does.
