From cellblock to workshop: Kudos Formetal and Quebec for funding this important program. Many prisoners and former prisoners are excellent workers. Training in trades is an investment in them, the country's needs, and public safety. canadianaffairs.news/2026/10… via @CDNAffairs

Prisons are increasngly violent. Public Inquiry needed to understand and reduce violence. Disappointing Man Coroner's Inquest into 3 deaths of prisoners killed by other prisoners made no recommendations to prevent such violence. Action is needed. ctvnews.ca/barrie/article/co…

The prisoner's sentence ends in 3 yrs for crimes committed 23 yrs ago. Graduated, supervised and supported releases reduce future crimes. Not in the public interest to have prisoners waive parole hearings which set conditions of reentry to reduce risk. thestarphoenix.com/news/crim…

Parole officer said "unescored leaves rejected because they would be difficult for CSC to manage." But UTAs less management than ETAs. Halfway houses have challenges providing services for seriously ill -like a 79 yr old with cancer. Humane alternatives! montrealgazette.com/news/loc…

Majority of prisoners held in provincial custody across Canada are on remand -not convicted and sentenced. Many are released from remand centres to the streets without reintegration supports. What are those #s now? Bill C-14 likely to worsen this. cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/…
