REAL White House Ghost Stories After Midnight…SUPER SPOOKY. Folk historians say the 9th President William Henry Harrison haunts the Executive Mansion. Harrison died in the White House in 1841 … he was from the Whig Party and only President for 31 days. Some say he passed away from pneumonia he caught it during his two hour long inauguration speech he delivered in freezing weather macho man style without a coat or hat. Other historians say he died from typhoid fever caught from contaminated White House water pipes. Maybe it was a combo of the two but that really sucked for him considering how excited he was to become the first Whig Prez. The medical treatment Harrison got here at the White House was absolutely brutal, possibly worse than his sickness and what probably really killed him. A good way to imagine it would be if Dr. Fauci got his hands on a sick President, it probably wouldn’t end well. What Harrison's doctors did to him here at the White House was straight out of a horror movie, again similar to the way Dr. Fauci tortured beagles. They sliced open Harrison’s vein and drained his blood until his pulse nearly gave out. They pressed scorching hot cups onto his skin to raise blisters, then slapped burning mustard plasters across his stomach. They pumped him full of mercury and castor oil to violently empty his bowels, forced ipecac down his throat to make him vomit, and gave him enemas on top of it. To dull the agony they kept him doped up on opium, washed down with brandy. And when the 68-year-old was too weak to lift his head, they made him swallow Virginia snakeroot and crude petroleum. Sadly, Harrison trusted the science of the time! According to folklore shared by the White House Historical Association, staff and security members over the years have reported hearing strange rummaging and scurrying sounds coming from the attic, as if someone is searching for lost paperwork. Stories of his ghost began circulating among White House residents and servants a few years after his death, turning the third-floor space into one of the building's earliest reported paranormal locations. Fun fact- Like our current @potus Trump, Harrison supported high tariffs to protect American manufacturing and generate federal revenue to fund the infrastructure projects. Can you imagine when President Trump is bored at night he goes to the third floor for a chat with President Harrison’s ghost on the importance of tariffs and the Dumocrats that oppose them… One more fact- Harrison's last words were meant for his VP John Tyler: "Sir, I wish you to understand the true principles of the government. I wish them carried out. I ask nothing more." His VP John Tyler didn’t listen or honor his wishes. He governed against almost everything Harrison and the Whigs stood for. (Tyler was a former Democrat so go figure.) But the more reason for Harrison to haunt the White House with unfinished business! Rumor has President Harrison only haunts Democrat Presidents and merely keeps Republican Presidents company when they are lonely. Some also say President Harrison will not rest in peace until there are more tariffs! Will President Trump help him with that or will President Harrison wander the White House for another 185 years?
