1/ @Jamescecon and I regularly update these #WFH charts using @ONS labour force survey data. I've no idea when it will settle. The end of these charts look like frayed knots. Firstly #WFH by broad occupation (in @CIPD lovely new brand colours)

£/m2 properties in London. Distribution follows the train lines resulting in a snapping turtle. The dark green around Hyde park is where values are £12k/m2. With 1,420,000 m2 in Hyde park that's a potential £17bn. But then again without the nice park the values might fall a bit

I made a gif to show the cyclical nature of construction (and the hyper cyclical nature of housebuilding)

Great chart from @JonathanBoys - among people aged 55-64 in work, one in seven (15%) want fewer hours *and* less pay. Employers should facilitate people switching to part-time roles to retain them - and prevent them leaving the workforce. cipd.org/uk/views-and-insigh…

1/6 Can older workers can be encouraged to join the labour market? Populations are ageing ➡️ shrinking workforce All else equal ➡️ lower economic growth The hope is that technology can increase productivity. #AI to the rescue But what about the other side?

Very big day for those of us interested in the productivity effects of a higher minimum wage. Sainsbury's has upgraded all its price labels in the store I just visited with mini auto-updating screens. It's happening!

A mildly interesting chart on #WFH by employer size. Pre-pandemic it was pretty much just micro businesses (1-10 employees), but post-pandemic it's the 250+

Our gig economy report is now live - a policy report providing the latest insights on the scale and nature of the UK’s gig economy 📊 - Just under half a million people in the UK work in the gig economy, and only a fifth of those see it as their main source of income 💰 - Those in the transportation gig economy are more likely to be reliant on it as their main source of income and be self-employed in their main job. We describe this as the ‘visible’ gig economy 🛵 Read the full report and insights here: ow.ly/eAEc50PJcZ9 #CIPD #HR #People #Income #Report #Economy
