Imagine if we could insulate ourselves completely from our currently soaring energy costs.
That's the reality for a number of communities in Europe who are powering their members with locally produced renewable energy.

We try to keep out of party politics, but a potential PM backing fossil fuel extraction (which takes 30 years to bring online) and condemning solar farms (1-3 years) is simply outrageous.
It needs to be called out.

1⃣ The PM fails to confront the immediate crisis of rising energy bills. He says Government is doing "all it can" but it isn’t.
He is leaving millions of families facing bills they can't meet and rejecting a windfall tax on oil+ gas giants’ superprofits that would actually help

Having worked for 15 years in local energy, I have no doubt that next winter is shaping up to be one of our biggest ever challenges. Action to reduce gas use over the next 9 months is vital and we need it everywhere. This is a thread on what role communities can play 🧵
