I love this! Surgical Leadership is ever more important. Fostering an environment of learning, peer support, shared decision-making & compassionate leadership is needed now more than ever. Autocratic leadership, although direct & effective, does not build high functioning teams!
How can you be an effective surgical leader?
Our guide explores creating safe, compassionate environments for patients and staff, with practical recommendations and standards to support your training and development.

Safe emergency general surgery—@asgbi statement
➡️doi.org/10.1093/bjs/znae303
The EGS Steering Group of the @asgbi designed a prospective cross-sectional snapshot survey using a modified Delphi method to cover four areas: hospital infrastructure, EGS workload, surgical workforce and resource availability
Recommendations for safe and efficient EGS care:
1⃣Safe staffing levels are essential, defined by EGS admissions and inpatient volume, not hospital size
2⃣Patient pathways for all stages of the EGS patient journey should be universally incorporated
3⃣EGS services should be available and contracted 24/7
4⃣ There should be a lead clinician for EGS with allocated contracted time
