⚽️ On game: ‘We did enough to win. We spoke clearly through the week and we saw that today, there was complete commitment and togetherness in all phases. The first 20mins there was a lack of confidence from the last weeks but we grew through the game and that was excellent, something to build on. We showed the fundamentals.
🏹 On Dedic: ‘He played well, right? It (the bow & arrow incident) didn’t affect him. He was not aware of the rules. We don’t need to make a big deal out of it.
😠 On Burn disallowed goal: ‘I learned that word here, a “soft” decision. In my eyes, it was not right. Last week we had the situation where Fabian Schar was bleeding in the face (before Everton scored). That is difficult for me to understand.’

Argh!! This is infuriating. Juries are already directed about “rape myths”. That doesn’t mean a defence barrister should not be allowed to ask, for example: “why did you not shout for help?” It just means a jury should weigh it against their direction about rape myths.
EXC: Rape victims should not be left “feeling like they are on trial” in court, Andy Burnham says in an interview with @TimesRadio
The PM will “look closely” at concerns raised by Met Police commissioner over “rape myths” being presented to juries

Being a lawyer is just spending all week looking forward to the weekend, then spending the entire weekend worrying about all the work you have the following week over and over again until you die.

Judging by comments on here in relation to #RussellBrand there is still a massive misunderstanding as to what constitutes ‘evidence’ in a criminal trial. If a woman (or man) tells their account in court about an event, THAT is evidence. And it is sufficient evidence to convict.

Lloyds. House prices down 0.6% last month (a lot more in real terms). Probs just beginning given climbing cost of credit.

So now we can say the thing that we couldn't say before: that Russell Brand's barrister's arguments on his client's behalf were utterly disgraceful and seemed rooted in the misogynistic past

If you don't want to be convicted of rape in 20 years time, don't rape anybody now.
It's a really simple concept.

Next year will mark the 1,100th anniversary of the creation of England.
Almost uniquely in the world, it has remained a recognisably unified polity ever since.
Celebrations are in order.

Worth remembering re the BoE move, that it's mostly about oil/energy costs, and the last two days have seen those change rapidly. Note too though that it highlights UK's ridiculous energy fragility - your mortgage is rising because our MPs refuse to prioritise energy security.

Shabana has made a serious mistake surrendering to Labour MPs. So I’m putting people on notice - when we get into government we will scrap this weak policy.
Immigration is too high. Labour are making a bad situation much, much worse.
The Conservative Party is under new management. I accept this problem started under a previous Conservative govt. Many of those in that Cabinet have gone to Reform where they belong.
And I’ve got a proper plan to fix it👇

I am deeply honoured to be elected to the International Court of Justice.
I am grateful for the support and faith states have put in me to serve the @CIJ_ICJ. I look forward to serving the Court with independence and integrity alongside colleagues elected today.

The best explanation of why Shabana Mahmood's cave-in is such a disaster comes from Shabana herself:
The amount is tiny but that’s not the point. When taxpayers are being asked for more of their cash to fund those who can’t work, whilst simultaneously getting less from public services, inflation is rising and the country is just crap, spending our money elsewhere is scandalous
