I prefer an extended maturity in the 45-180 day rolling range until RDTS expiry, but no matter what final consensus ends up being, I wouldn’t push to URSF over it We’ve made substantial progress already on miner decentralization, so there’s plenty to be happy about afaict

If we are not sure of what to do then let's go back to 100 blocks. Fine with me. Less messing with these levers the better. 👍

Currently, all pools require DATUM in one way or form. As long as that continues, I don't think we need further consensus-level enforcement. If someone walks back later, we can always do a longer maturity + canceling payments at that time.

"technically sure, only 2 nodes control the entire network, but , it is decentralized guys, your nodes matter, just not very much, like not at all."

The Bitcoin white paper explained that control of the network was maintained by the nodes that control the majority of the proof-of-work hash power. Nowhere in the whitepaper was there an explanation that “non-mining” full nodes have any power over the network. It is the mining nodes that decide the chain by extending it; everyone else follows the chain they produce. Here are three explicit statements from the white paper explaining this: Section 1 - “The system is secure as long as honest nodes collectively control more CPU power than any cooperating group of attacker nodes.” Section 4 - “Proof-of-work is essentially one-CPU-one-vote. The majority decision is represented by the longest chain, which has the greatest proof-of-work effort invested in it. If a majority of CPU power is controlled by honest nodes, the honest chain will grow the fastest and outpace any competing chains.” Section 12 - “They vote with their CPU power, expressing their acceptance of valid blocks by working on extending them and rejecting invalid blocks by refusing to work on them. Any needed rules and incentives can be enforced with this consensus mechanism.” Non-mining full nodes can observe and refuse to relay an invalid block, but they do not generate the competing proof-of-work that would make an alternative chain the longest one. On the paper’s terms they therefore do not decide which rules are in force or which history prevails. The nodes that control the hash do. The claim that Bitcoin’s decentralization and antifragility rest on the population of non-hashing node runners does not follow from the decision mechanism the white paper actually describes, and BIP-110 confirmed this for us all. If we are to get Bitcoin right, we must ruthlessly kill all SV1 mining within the blake2b network. SV1 is a plague on the network. Cc @GrassFedBitcoin @cguida6 @LukeDashjr

Theft, Jimmy. It’s the theft that makes it so you can’t relax, not inflation. It’s theft. Just say what it is. So it’s easier to understand. Theft, not Inflation.
Inflation makes it so that you can never really relax about the future, even if you have lots of money.

Anyone dealing in scamcoins is not a friend to Bitcoin.
Scamcoins ARE automatically hostile to Bitcoin. They cheat people, and make Bitcoin look bad by association and affinity fraud. Anyone dealing in scamcoins is not a friend to Bitcoin.

One way to think of bitcoin was in human years. At 17 yrs a teenager. But given the events of bip-110, maybe a better framing is the sha-256 lifespan was the gestation phase, bip-110 the labor, and the pow change was its birth into the world, now a fragile and beautiful potential of what it can be, and those of us providing care in this phase of its life are insanely protective of it, willing to kill SV1 mining for its long term strength and well being.
Maybe more accurate - If BIP-110 fails, Bitcoin will have its soul divorced from the sha256 chain - through a pow fork, to facilitate BIP-110. That will spell the end of the sha256 chain, and the beginning of Bitcoin’s next stage of its life on its next pow algo.
