At our October Plenary Meeting, The Board of Deputies of British Jews has overwhelmingly voted to declare that the Green Party of England and Wales, by having adopted an antisemitic platform, has become a racist party. bod.org.uk/board-declares-gr…

DISCO INFERNO 🪩
The amount Jackdaw will cut bills: ÂŁ0 The number of jobs it will support: 27 The net cost of Jackdaw & Rosebank to our economy: at least ÂŁ90 billion. Life's too short to pretend that calls to drill baby drill are anything other but a fast track for us all to burn baby burn.

Do Shell not pay business rates to Lambeth Council like any other office? Deeply childish politics and a shame to see it promoted with taxpayers’ money on a local authority account.
Shell, with Headquarters in Lambeth, made £7.4 billion in 3 months 🤯 This is a climate emergency 🌍 We are asking Shell to contribute to Lambeth’s climate resilience plan, in proportion to its share of global emissions 💰 It's time they helped pay to protect Lambeth 🫵

Great to see Stratford Original ably represented by @gianluca7rizzo 👏🏼
Stratford is one of London's best-connected transport hubs. Adding international rail services would take that connectivity even further, linking East London and beyond directly to Europe while supporting jobs, tourism and growth.

Sally Rooney isn’t a terrorist but has pledged to donate the proceeds of her book to a proscribed terrorist organisation. Proscribed as a terror group because they staged an organised attempt to vandalise British military infrastructure.
OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.

Proprietors must follow the law and that law extends to not knowingly funding groups which would proudly weaken our national security. It matters little what the group purports to believe, moreso their proven methods for advancing their cause. And those methods are criminal.

I think we’re also in this weird place where people don’t understand that Net Zero doesn’t mean zero fossil fuels. Until they invent electric shipping freighters and can substantially scale up non-fossil fuel fertiliser production, the entire world will rely on them.
The green case that Burnham can make for new North Sea oil and gas production: – Domestic gas is 18% less carbon-emitting than imports from the US and the Gulf states. – Higher tax revenue can be used to support green energy, EVs and heat pumps. arguably.uk/p/is-net-zero-st…

Reeves was right about the North Sea just like she was right about Heathrow.
I welcome today's decision on Jackdaw. I have always argued that we should use our own resources to enhance our energy security. (1/3)

We welcome the approval of Jackdaw - it’s great news for Aberdeen and for the UK. This project means jobs on the rigs and in the supply chain, tax revenue for the Treasury, and a boost for an economy that’s been crying out for investment. Let’s be clear - clean energy is the future, but in the near term we must be pragmatic and make use of the homegrown resources we have. (1/2)
Jackdaw will start to supply gas to British homes and businesses "from as early as the end of this month", the government says. The chancellor will also announce today the launch of a "energy wealth fund" which will "use tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas to invest in renewable and low carbon energy projects". And the revenue it generates for our Gross National Product provides higher tax revenues for the treasury and increases our GDP. Win win for a struggling economy.
'This won't bring the down the price of gas but it will replace some of the gas we are shipping from other parts of the world' Greg Jackson from Octopus Energy spoke to #BBCBreakfast after the UK government approved extraction from the Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea bbc.co.uk/news/live/cw8rzgvl…

If Britain delivers true devolution for London, construction should immediately begin on Crossrail 2 while routes 3, 4, and 5 are mapped out.

Fully support this decision. We need less ideology and more pragmatism in our energy debate. Yes to new nuclear. Yes to renewables. And yes to using our own North Sea assets rather than importing from abroad. We need it all.
🚨 BREAKING: The Government has officially approved the Jackdaw gas field for North Sea drilling It's the UK’s largest known untapped gas reserve and will start to supply gas to British homes and businesses from the end of this month

Not sure the the Climate Majority Project will have convinced anybody rowing with Kate McCann on Times Radio. The argued alternative to maximising profitable private energy production is always the same - more public spending. It’s not a winnable equation for today’s economy.
