The 30 day period before our deadlines is referred to internally as “distress.” If you’re interested in learning more about our distress deadlines, please read this article. digitalcommons.law.mercer.ed…

As public servants we should not hide from those who elected us to our court. We should use social media, as has @JudgeDillard, to educate the public about the judiciary. And specifically, our court’s work on which we sit. #publicservants #thirdbranch #ruleoflaw

Love this! When I took the bench in 2015, many colleagues insisted I delete all social media accounts because judges should not be on social media, period. I’m pleased to say that attitude has shifted to be much more in favor of engagement.

Sixteen years ago, Governor @SonnyPerdue announced my appointment to @AppealsCourtGA. I will always be grateful for the confidence and trust he placed in me with that decision. These last 16 years have been the most wonderful years of my life. I am truly blessed to have a vocation that I love.

Some people think that Learned Hand had the perfect name for a judge. But "Learned" was the judge's middle name, not his first name. Hand's real first name was better suited for a lawyer: Billings.
