In August 2021, 24-year-old Kylen Schulte and 38-year-old Crystal Turner were camping in the mountains outside Moab, Utah.
They had been married for just four months.
The couple lived out of their van, moving from campsite to campsite. But on August 13, they texted friends that something felt wrong. A creepy man had set up camp right next to theirs, and he was scaring them.
Kylen even warned her friends that if they ever went missing, it would mean someone had murdered them.
Then they stopped answering. Five days later, after both had missed their shifts at work, a worried friend drove up into the mountains to look for them.
She found them dead in a creek near their campsite. Both had been shot multiple times.
For months, no one knew who had killed them. Then, in May 2022, police named a suspect: Adam Pinkusiewicz, a man who had worked at the same McDonald's as Crystal.
His girlfriend told detectives he had confessed to shooting both women.
But he never faced trial. About a month after the murders, he took his own life in a motel room in Iowa.
