Penning a story on Canelo Alvarez, seriously, he is the last fighter who was developed under the 'old' system of fighting on regional networks, then moving up to cable, and a premium network and if good enough, pay-per-view. It was an organic process that weeded out those who weren't good enough.
And he became relevant through activity and longetivity. He will have over 70 fights when his career is over. The next generation, most will struggle to get to 40, much less 50. This is how this became a niche sport.
I really think Canelo might be the last of his kind. #boxing

I met my girlfriend when she had nothing. No admission, nothing. I loved her, so I sponsored her university from 100 level to final year. School fees, hostel, handouts, everything. I did it because I believed we had a future.
She graduated with a good result. I was happy, like her success was mine.
Then she wanted to do her Masters in the UK. I helped her again. I supported her admission, I contributed money for her fees and flight. The plan was simple: she would go first, settle, then I would join her. We would build our life there together.
She traveled. The first few weeks she was calling, telling me she missed me.
Then she changed. Calls became short. She was always busy. Then she stopped picking completely.
One day I tried to call her, WhatsApp blocked. Her UK number was switched off. Just like that.
Till today, I have not heard from her.
The girl I trained in university, the girl I helped to move to the UK, the girl I was supposed to join, blocked me and disappeared.
That's my story.

Mike Tyson once thought he was talking to a sports journalist. Turns out, he was interviewing with a notorious murderer.
Tyson says police eventually surrounded the gym and revealed that the man he’d been talking to was the Baseline Killer from Phoenix, Arizona.
