This week’s @KCS_EPP coaching visits went to Cohort 6 teachers in Jefferson, Morgan, Blount County and Sweetwater. They had their students engaged in hands-on activities. Engagement is key for good classroom management! 👏🏻

This week started off with @KCS_EPP coaching visits to our candidates in @KnoxSchools: Karns, Powell, Gibbs & Central. The @CTE4KCS programs are done well in alignment with our academy models; our newest CTE teachers learn to work with our youth and guide them to careers.

On Oct 1, I had the pleasure of visiting a school that’s a new partner for the @KCS_EPP this year: Sevier Co HS where Mr Howard teaches Welding 🔥 and Mr Watson Fire Safety 💦 And yesterday I saw Mr Whitelaw in action with his Morristown middle schoolers 🤖

This week’s @KCS_EPP coaching visits went to Cumberland Gap & Claiborne Co. High Schools. Construction, Business, and one Cosmetology teacher worked well with their students and applied to their classrooms what they’ve learned in our EPP! Love seeing it all put into action! 💚

Yesterday was great for @KCS_EPP coaching visits at Karns HS! Mr Haskins’ students tried out the miter saw for the 1st time🤞🏼, Ms Thomas’ students explored the history of computers 💻 & Mr McMahan’s crew set up for broadcasting the evening football game 🎥 Learning by doing! 👏🏻

Today’s @KCS_EPP Learning Day is rich in discussions abt how educational & behavioral theorists have shaped how we (should) teach. Cohort 5 candidates give their presentations. Judy pulls in this info to instruct them on student assessment & feedback that is actually effective!🙂

Judy and I have begun our @KCS_EPP coaching visits for this semester. Wonderful new teachers have started to lead their classrooms in Hamblen, Anderson, and @KnoxSchools! We debrief with them after our visit and set goals 🎯

Last week, our new Cohort 6 candidates met for their Intensive Induction Week at Karns HS. 32 new CTE instructors from 15 partnering school districts got their first taste of what it means to be a teacher—for most a 2nd or even 3rd career at this point 😊

Today is Day 1 of the @KCS_EPP June Intensive for Cohort 5! Got a little rest last week 🏖️, now back to learning & planning for next school year 📝! We started with the teacher code of ethics and making a curriculum map for a new course. 👏🏻

This week’s @KCS_EPP coaching visits to Anderson Co HS on Tues & Oak Ridge & Clinton HSs today. Mr Hagen’s students worked on digital projects, Ms Robinson’s put the circular system in order! Ms Hutchins’ Ss practiced proper handcuffing & Dr No’s used manufacturing software.

On Monday night, Cohort 5 met to discuss how to infuse CTSOs into their teaching. That’s what you get with our EPP! Thanks to @srebeducation’s T2L curriculum, we prepare new teachers specifically for their jobs in CTE classrooms, workshops, and labs! @judy_siebert

Yesterday’s @KCS_EPP coaching visit to Cosby HS allowed me to see our new teachers: Mr Huffhines is practicing creating lesson plans with AI that fit his student population & standards & Ms Owen made ice cream for her Ss as they researched pasteurization laws in other countries😋

After 5 yrs of operating under ‘initial approval’, going through the TN Comprehensive Review & getting the State Board of Education’s final verdict last month, the @KCS_EPP now has ‘Full Approval’ status!! 🎉 Big thank you to my colleagues Alex, Judy & Janelle!!!
