It's insane that what used to require Fusion or other big boy CAD apps can now be done in the browser 🤯 Scanruler is free, runs in your browser and has a bunch of great tools from model analysis to mesh editing. And the reverse engineering results when connected with the mcp look crazy!

Super super work from @CNC_Kitchen - thanks for giving this to the community 🤩

Why is nobody talking about PBRnxt? Maybe because it's 2 years old, so a dinosaur in AI times - but the results are great! Drop in one flat texture and it generates a complete PBR material—albedo, roughness, displacement and both OpenGL and DirectX normal maps. It averaged around 5 seconds for a 512×512 texture on an RTX 3070. Free, MIT-licensed and running locally.

Turn your Gaussian Splat scans into works of art without a single click 👨‍🎨 We've tried a number of painterly 'splats as brush strokes' techniques in the past, but nothing quite as beautiful or performant as this. It's almost impossible to stop playing once you've imported a scan.

Shared by the wonderful splat master @DanyBittel and created by the excellent @_GlassEagle - brilliant work 😍

KIRI Engine's Gaussian Splat to mesh feature creates usable meshes where other methods fail. But these meshes don't have to stand alone. They can even be used as helper meshes for the original Gaussian Splat. Allowing you to quickly edit, crop and affect focused regions of splats, that would otherwise require a slow and painstaking selection process using cumbersome tools. This is a short demonstration of possible 'helper-mesh' uses. What else could they be used for?

Shoutout to our dear friend at @ViggleAI ! They just launched JST-2! As someone building in 3D, we love seeing this approach to world models: representing the world in 3D, with physics built in. There’s so much we can build once AI understands how the world moves and behaves. Congrats to the team on four years of work coming together!
Today we are releasing JST-2, the world's first full-stack physics-native world foundation model. Many world models learn in pixel/video space. We went back to first principles and built the entire model stack in 3D. Generate a 3D scene in seconds and expand it in real time. Create characters with motion built in, all through one general architecture.

Here's a surprisingly easy color separation effect using Gaussian Splats in the Blender 5.3 Beta 🎨 If anyone knows a nice way to get a smoother gradient/selection let us know!

Turning a set of photos into a Gaussian Splat—without optimizing every scene from scratch. InfiniSplat v2 works with posed or unposed images, meaning camera data is optional. It learns to fade out unreliable points, helping reduce floaters and artifacts, while producing more coherent results as the camera moves beyond the original views. The team has made the code and weights public so others can test and build on their amazing work 😄

1 of these meshes is 30,000 faces, the other is a single face. In case you don't know about baking textures or normal maps, it can do insane things for reducing polygon counts. Especially when the object is going to be used at a distance or as part of a background.

KIRI Engine - 3D Scanner App retweeted
🤯 a year ago I would say photogrammetry will always be better than 3DGS to mesh. But now I might have to talk that back. I still think lidar/photogrammetry fusion is the ultimate winner though. Thoughts?

Great news for creators using Gaussian Splats. Not only does Blender 5.3 add native GS support, but depth of field also works 🤩 We tried using an orthographic camera and super shallow depth on a KIRI Engine scan, the result = instant micro worlds

If you’d asked us a few years ago whether you could get a high quality 3D scan of a gemstone with just a phone, we'd have said no. Reflective and featureless objects are a nightmare for normal photogrammetry. Sure it could be done with scanning spray, polarizers or other specialist gear - but those aren't exactly conveniant. Our 3DGS to Mesh mode changed that. Outputting meshes from even the most challenging surfaces:

It's so rare to get to play with a data set this good for free 😆 We threw it into Blender 5.3 and used our free collision tools addon to have a walk around.

3D scanning isn’t just shaping the future—it’s helping us explore the past. The Smithsonian has a huge collection of 3D models, from Barack Obama to the Apollo spacecraft - some available for free download. Many even include interactive annotations that reveal the stories behind every detail. Such an amazing resource for historians, game devs, artists...the list is endless🤩

Scan it. Brick it. Build it. 🧱 We fed a KIRI Engine scan into the amazing Brickagen 3000 by @nicoptere . It converted the model into a real buildable LEGO design, generated the parts list and even created a step-by-step instruction booklet. Christmas gifts are already solved 😆

Automated UVs without AI—and without manually marking a single seam 🤯 Ministry of Flat by @quelsolaar analyses the mesh, adapts to different topology types, then unwraps and packs the UVs automatically. And that's not even mentioning the inanely cool 2000s UI. Free for most uses—and with a Blender bridge by Tweekazoid on Github 😆

With Insta360's Spatial Capture officially released in the US today, we can finally announce our partnership with @Insta360. Yes — Insta360’s Spatial Capture feature is powered by KIRI Engine. By combining 360° cameras with KIRI Engine’s 3D Gaussian Splatting technology, we’re making it dramatically easier to capture large real-world environments and turn them into immersive 3D spaces. One of the biggest breakthroughs here is the capture workflow. Compared with existing 360° Gaussian Splatting workflows, Spatial Capture is dramatically simpler We believe 360 cameras can become one of the most natural ways to capture the world in 3D — and this collaboration is a big step toward making that happen.
