A great open-access resource!🌾🧬 R genes are valuable targets for crop improvement.📚 Our chapter, “Rapid cloning of disease resistance genes in wheat” reviews resources and methods used to identify and validate candidate genes. @FarisGenLab
The Wheat Genome Book is out!
The first comprehensive book about the wheat genome, including a complete review of the resources available for research, crop improvement and teaching.

I’ve developed KASP that are 99-100% accurate when predicting insensitivity to ToxA in durum and bread wheat. Please reach out if you want to use these markers to reduce tan spot, septoria blotch, and spot blotch susceptibility. @FarisGenLab
Replying to @KLDRunning
@KLDRunning talking about developing useful markers for the Tsn1 locus, the target for SnToxA, PtrToxA and BsToxA.#FDCC
Great to share progress on this project. Glad to hear current research on Septoria nodorum blotch in wheat at the Foliar Disease Complexes of Cereals Symposium. #fdcc

@KLDRunning describing her work on cloning and identification of multiple SnTox5 sensitivity genes named Snn5 in durum wheat. Snn5-B2 more common in durum than Snn5-B1. #fdcc

Most plants contain resistance genes that recognize pathogens and protect plants from developing disease but ARS scientists discovered a new gene may hijack wheat's ability to fight disease. Read more in the first part of our “Fungus Series” loom.ly/ciBRY6s #DiscoverARS

My dad teaches a 2.5 hr capstone class over dinner time. Students were getting hangry and rushing through their work to go eat dinner. So, he is making the class dinner. This week was stew and 🥖. Everyone stayed the whole class. Proud of all he does to help his students succeed!
Everything inside a laptop looks very small and fragile. I have no desire to see inside a laptop again.
Happy #cdnagday2021! Thankful for the tractor ride alongs, morning chores, bottle babies, calving and harvest seasons my family shared with me. Decided to study nectrotrophic fungal pathogens in wheat while harvesting wheat with my uncle in Manitoba.

I said “this is too many hits!” in regards to a BLAST search. Fiancé thought I was overwhelmed by the quality of his playlist 🎵
Threshing can get kind of lonely. Brought a friend today. Unfortunately, he insists on trying to eat the awns. Would not recommend as a threshing partner. 😕
Can’t decide if my favorite perk of working from home is that I can work wearing pajamas or that the snacks are so much better. Today, we’re making nachos🎉💃🏼
When you’ve been begging your wheat plots to produce heads all summer and NOW they decide to head and flower, when there isn’t time to mature before frost. 🙄
