Congratulations to my friend and professional colleague of over 40 years, Jim McDonnell, on his appointment today as Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department. My compliments to LA Mayor Karen Bass on her selection. She, the citizens of LA, and members of the LAPD will not be disappointed with Jim’s performance. He is a consummate police professional and I am delighted that he is once again a transformative leader in the American police profession — leading one of its most iconic police departments.
