Welcome to my X
I post my poetry, my faith, thoughts on marketing and business, stories from ultramarathon training, sports commentary, and plenty of Texas High School Football.
You’ll also get the occasional random rant, questionable meme, coffee or pizza opinion, and political post when I simply can’t help myself.

We all have horrific memories from 9/11.
The plane hitting the building. People jumping to their deaths. The towers collapsing. The heartbroken families.
But I also always remember this moment, perhaps the greatest sports moment I’ve ever seen.
America was afraid. Islamist terrorists had attacked us, and no one knew what would happen next.
Then our President walked out into the open, onto the mound at Yankee Stadium, wearing a heavy bulletproof vest.
And he threw a strike right down the middle.
Radical Islamists are still a threat.
Evil, of any and all kinds, will always be a threat.
But we don’t have to live afraid of it.
We can come together.
We can stand tall.
We can walk straight toward evil, stare it in the eye...
and throw a strike right down the middle.
Resharing what I wrote about Charlie a year ago when he was murdered.
Such a great, loving, Godly young man of the highest character. He is missed.

My dad turns almost any conversation into a basketball story.
I thought that was just because he loved the game. Now I realize he was really keeping his best memories alive.
Tournaments. NBA players. A 72-point game.
Too many threes to count.
I wrote about a lifetime of basketball with my dad, and how some of the best father-son stories are really just ordinary moments that became priceless with time.

Smithson Valley Head Coach Larry Hill Speaks with @KP_Kelly

The last month or two has meant some 60–100 hour weeks, client work that took longer than expected, and a couple all-nighters getting the Dream Gala ready.
But it came together. We raised money, shared Camp Dream’s mission with new people and had a great time doing it.
Worth it. ❤️
I had the privilege of sitting down with several Texas high school football coaches for interviews.
Sometimes, it is just obvious why a coach is a winning coach. Larry Hill is an example of that - a fountain of football and coaching wisdom.

Another tragic story out of Texas.
Texas High School Head Football Coach and Wife Die in Car Crash
East Bernard Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Jeremy Jenkins and his wife, Brandy Jenkins, a teacher at East Bernard Junior High School, were killed in a crash Saturday night in Wharton County. The couple leaves behind three sons.
Our thoughts are with their family and the entire East Bernard community.

New poem. Bits and pieces of this have been collecting for more than a year, with the final lines finding their shape through more recent experiences.
I’d encourage you not just to listen, but to read it. Notice where the voice changes, where tense slips, where vulnerable prose creates distance and then quietly closes it again.
There are small movements from ego to unity, from doing to being, from time into something almost timeless.
Tiny word choices carrying stories of their own.
Much of it may only make sense to me.
Maybe that is part of the poem too.

Sometimes supporting a small business is as simple as wearing the hat.
An interview Stephenville HC Sterling Doty for @texashsfootball & @hudl reminded me that building a community doesn’t always require grand gestures, or anything in return.
See an opportunity to help someone? Take it.

Cowboy 200 Miler Training Update
The race just over is 6 weeks away.
My sub 66 hour goal is ambitious.
(I ran it last year in 79 hours)
I've never done a 200 miler in under 300lbs, and I am under 280lbs now, that should help.
I've done double-digit miles 10 of the last 12 days, I'll get in 30 miles on the trails this weekend.
I am excited to race this one.
150 people - looking to get into the top 25.
I need to really be focused in these last few weeks of training, make every step count, and if I do, my impossible goal of sub 66 hours might be just within my reach.
