Six of Seattle’s top-10 driest Octobers were during El Niño years.
Five of the six were followed by snowless winters (1991, 1952, 1969, 1987 & 2002).😢
Oct 1972 (8th-driest) was the exception, with 9.1” of snow falling in the winter of 72-73.
Rooting for a ‘72 outcome! 🙏
10 years ago was Seattle’s wettest October on record.
10 years later, and this could be our driest October on record.
Just 0.08” at Sea-Tac so far. Record driest October is 0.31” from 1987.

Just 0.01” at Sea-Tac today, but 0.31” in North Seattle, thanks to the Convergence Zone!
Imagine if this had been snow ….
After a warm start to October, today’s high temperature only reached 58°—Seattle’s coldest since May 16
I know it’s sooo 2025 and my kids would cringe if they saw, but…
Today was the second day in a row with a high of 6-7 🤣
The first week of October was the 6th-warmest on record at Sea-Tac, with an average temp of 60.1° ☀️
1st place stays with 2022, when the region was cloaked in wildfire smoke. 💨

A traditional October 6 in Seattle.
Sunny and the mountain is out – at Seattle, WA
One of the more fascinating aspects of this climate is that it’s almost always sunny on October 6.
This year is no different.
Warm & dry this weekend! 🌤️
Highs will coast to around 70° tomorrow & Sunday after morning clouds yield to afternoon sunshine.
🔹COOLEST SEPTEMBER IN 19 YEARS🔹
With an average temperature of 60.3°, last month finished 2.3° below normal—Seattle’s coolest September since 2007.
September is running 2.3° below normal (thru yesterday).
That’s our coldest departure from normal in any month since Feb 2025 (-3.6°)
Interestingly, our last September with a strong El Niño (2015) was also 2° below normal. And then the torching began the next month 😢
Nice early-fall blow in Western Washington today! 💨
Seattle gusted to 38 mph—nothing too crazy, but pretty decent for September.
Olympia (south of the track of the storm center) hit 54 mph!
Love you, Nebraska, but … cry me a river! 🤣
15 days in a row and counting! 🙀🌧️
