The Book of Mormon is a great witness that the Lord loves all people and reaches out to all, everywhere.
The Book of Mormon adds to our knowledge of how our Savior’s earthly ministry reached out to all of His scattered flock.
Book of Mormon teachings contradict the erroneous assertion that the grace of God saves only a chosen few.
The Book of Mormon teaches that our Savior "inviteth ... all to come unto him" (2 Nephi 26:33). His grace is for all.
Similarly, the Book of Mormon tells us that the children of God in “every nation” have His promise that He “manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost” (2 Nephi 26:13).
These promises from the Book of Mormon are true.
I call upon all to act on these truths and to share them with others, that we may all draw closer to Jesus Christ, our Savior.
We are in the same stage of democracy as the late Roman Republic, when they were so concerned about Julius becoming a dictator, they murdered him, appointed a dictator, and overthrew the Republic to form and empire — all to save democracy.
(I use democracy here in the casual sense, not in the literal mob rule sense).
I just came across this in an Open Society Foundations document about how to fix public “mistrust” of liberal "democracy," and I honestly feel sick reading it. I've read many alarming quotes, but few are so "mask off" like this.
"I believe the time has come for a responsible, courageous elite, those who care far more about addressing the genuine social problems than about election results. Only a political elite with vision, prudence and a focus on the general good—to whom the electorate… can cede part of their sovereignty in the elections—will be able to justify public trust and spearhead... our struggle to survive.""
Read that again. The proposed solution to the public's distrust in democracy... is less democracy.
An unelected "elite" to whom the public should cede sovereignty.
Abolish democracy to save democracy. This kind of thinking is what we're up against.

It's very interesting how Alma worded this: "bridle all your passions **that ye may be filled with love**"
How ironic that sounds to a modern reader. Our society that portrays "passion" as the deepest form of love. Yet Alma teaches that uncontrolled passion is an **impediment** to true love.
Jesus did not feel enthusiastic or excited to drink the bitter cup. He did not feel endearing adoration toward the soldiers who tortured Him during the very moment He was paying for their souls.
From Gethsemane and Calvary we learn the truth: love is not a feeling, but a choice.
Your church service, your family relations, and your marriage will all improve once you learn that truth.
Love is not passion. Love is not butterflies or chemistry or compatibility. It is a decision, a commitment, a covenant of faithfulness and selfless service, "come what may."
True love perseveres even when it's grueling, thankless, passionless, and unrequited.
Few of us have this love. It doesn't come naturally. It's called charity. It's a spiritual gift. And it can only be attained through diligently seeking it from God.
Looks like the "students" who are "protesting" in Europe for "better classroom conditions" have protested another beautiful and historically-significant building into oblivion. I'm glad my wife and I got to see this in 2024, while it was still a solemn reminder that stunning beauty can exist alongside the most atrocious evil.

I actually agree with this. Congress is a full-time job, and if it doesn't pay well, it becomes very tempting to seek alternative sources of income. Pay them more, and LOCK THEM OUT of the stock market while they server.
I appreciate the thoughtful replies, so let me address a few points:
1. "It was never intended to be a full-time job." It is true that is not what was originally intended, but the modern reality is that it is a full-time job. Congress members have constant demands on their attention, and many of them come from constituents. That's just the reality of what it takes today.
2. Yes, this is more than the average person makes. I think that's fair, for two reasons. First, they have to be able to afford a second home in one of the most expensive housing markets in the nation. Second, I want Congress to attract the best and the brightest. There are a lot of brilliant people who could not afford to take a seat in Congress because they have a mortgage and student loans and other expenses.
3. It is not supposed to be a career path. I 100% agree with this one. While I think Congressmen should draw a decent salary while they serve, congressional service should not come with a retirement plan. I think Representatives should get the same 8 years as POTUS, and Senators should get two six-year terms. After that, go back to working in industry.
Socialism in a nutshell. CS Lewis nailed this in the Screwtape Letters. If a sprig of wheat starts growing taller than the others, lop off its head.
Dear UK parents, how do you deal with this type letter from your children’s school?
NB: not me.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This didn't happen in the UK and it's NOT real.
UK doesn't use zip codes; we use postcodes, which you know well.
39429 is a US zip code (after a Google search), and no teach named K Wiliams I'm East Marion Elementary School.

The most successful way for a man to have a traditional marriage is not to seek out a woman who would submit to any man; it is to build within yourself the kind of leadership qualities that would compel a capable and intelligent woman to see you as the leader she would choose.
Dangit, WaPo. You have no idea how much I wanted @DataRepublican to be wrong, or overreacting, or jumping the gun, or anything but stone-cold RIGHT.
Why can't you let her be wrong for once?
A small group of U.S. national security officials has been discreetly advising state and congressional lawmakers on how to prepare for the possibility that the Trump administration will attempt to interfere in the midterms, according to people involved. wapo.st/3WjVke5
When they tell you who they are, believe them.
Spare me the pearl-clutching — especially from Republican Members of Congress and online MAGA grifters who have cheered President Trump's weaponization of the government against those he doesn’t like, as recently as last week. This is a subject I know something about: Less than a year ago, Trump directed the DOJ and FBI to investigate me, and then tried to criminally indict me for a 90 second video, exercising basic free speech. The same free speech you’re exercising now, lying about what I said in this clip. If not for an anonymous group of grand jury members standing up for America's laws, I’d be criminally indicted for sedition. President Trump has turned the government against people, with raucous support from you and virtually all D.C. Republicans. So spare us the manufactured outrage.
America must be a place where the rule of law still matters. Those laws should apply to everyone equally. If you have aided in the corrupt use of U.S. taxpayer dollars to benefit the President or his family, or you have violated the law in order to carry out guidance from the President, you should be held accountable. And given how rampant that corruption appears to the average American, people looking to work for his Administration should realize that while the Supreme Court has granted the President immunity, it has not done the same for those who do illegal things at his behest.
I have long been an RG III fan. I am a Baylor Law alum, my wife is a BYU alum, and I spent a little bit of time there as an undergrad. This based take is perfection.
BYU SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT OF THE PLAYOFF LAST YEAR.
BYU SHOULDN’T BE LEFT OUT OF THE CHRISTIAN CONVERSATION.
BYU SHOULDN’T BE DISRESPECTED FOR THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.
BYU SHOULDN’T BE LOOKED DOWN ON BY ANYONE.
BYU SHOULD BE THE #1 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY.
GOD’S PLAN!

The events in the Book of Mormon actually happened. I believe it. It is indeed another Testament of Jesus Christ comparable to, and a companion of, The Holy Bible. It witnesses of Christ’s love for all.

There is zero chance this would ever happen, and it has nothing to do with her being fictional. DJT has a type.

Wait, is this how nightclubs work? Have I been missing out my whole life?
People in Japan are going to nightclubs to read books📚
“JUCY BOOK RAVE” brings people together at a basement club in Tokyo to read books while ambient music plays and lights flicker.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Milton Friedman of feminism. 👌👌👌
"I legitimately don't understand what reason women have in their minds as to why showing off their bodies garners so much male attention?"
I'll do my best to explain it but you have to grant that we just...are that way by default. Our assumption is that we are, by default, worthy of attention and adoration
Men aren't like this - men assume they are loved for what they do/achieve/provide - everyone can blackpill about the difference if you want but I see no reason to ascribe moral weight to it
ANYWAYS this default setting is healthy if (and reinforced when) that attention and adoration are coming from a dad, but your brain doesn't automatically recalibrate when it's not
We are then raised on princess movies where everyone adores the princess because she is pretty.
Think about it: Prince Charming is not trying to sleep with Cinderella. He also doesn't love her for her intellect, they barely speak the whole movie. She. Is. Just. Pretty.
Cinderella is one such example but this is reinforced by virtually every form of young girls' media. Partly because it sells, partly because the desire to be loved manifests itself this way naturally in girls
So we learn to connect "people look at me and like the way I look" with "I am worthy"
Because women are used to being loved for what we are and not what we provide/produce, we have no instinct to search for "What does this man see in me?"
...and this gets dangerous once you outgrow princess dresses, because when you try on your first too-short skirt and realize the attention ramps up, you have no mental emergency brake for what's happening
Your dad should, and in a healthy dynamic does, by saying "You are not leaving the house in that"
But if for whatever reason that doesn't happen, you just keep on thinking that you are getting rightful attention and adoration by dressing pretty
And it IS pretty. Even to women, we like the look of short skirts, heels, etc. Not for sexual reasons, but there's a reason that's what Barbies wear. It's feminine and pretty!
But I digress
This is a long-winded way of saying: it is not natural for a woman to ask "Why is he giving me attention?" that is a skill we need to learn and, more specifically, need to be taught by either someone who cares about us or by life experience

Hollywood is a one-trick pony. Take something beloved. Race/gender swap. "Look how diverse I am give me an award!"
Literally nothing about the premise or how he's got great stories to tell that make rebooting the X-Files worthwhile. In fact, he admits that the original pretty much covered it all. Just, "We're rebooting the X-Files, exact same premise, but with DIVERSE CASTING."
Then they will blame racism and sexism when it flops. And Skinner is definitely going to be gay this time, and Scully is going to be sassy, because a 23 year old woman playing an MD with a badge and a gun who autopsies aliens isn't boss babe enough. *Yawn*
I've seen a lot of double standards about he Ilhan Omar raid. I'll hold Trump to the same standard I held Biden: If you're going to use the DoJ to target your sharpest political opponents, you had better be dead-rock-solid on both the law and the facts.
Biden's lawfare failed that test spectacularly. Trump's has been a mixed bag so far. We'll see what evidence this Omar case actually yields.
