It’s National Ombudsman Day! The Office of the Ombudsman moved to the Auditor of Public Accounts in 2024, as directed by Senate Bill 48 (2023). The General Assembly made this move to strengthen the Ombudsman’s independence and ensure that oversight of CHFS is truly impartial.

It’s international Auditor Proud Day, and I am proud to recognize our state and local auditors for strengthening transparency, protecting public resources, and promoting public trust. Thank you for your dedication to our Commonwealth.
Today, I urged the Governor & CHFS to root out the problems within their administration that are wasting taxpayer dollars. I also launched the Public Benefit Error Rate Tracker which displays monthly error rates & estimated wasted taxpayer dollars as measured by the Ombudsman.
