Things are slowly coming together! I have an EPFL profile now: people.epfl.ch/daryl.yee
I'm recruiting one postdoctoral associate and at least one graduate student this year! Some details can be found in the Open Positions section. A detailed ad will be posted in Oct. RTs pls :)
This work stems from efforts of Prof. Bielawski, Prof. Xia @YanXiaLab and Prof. Boydston @aj_boydston in #Grubbs group @CaltechCCE. In collaboration of TLC lab @ETH_Materials, Quan, Julian and I managed to contribute to another piece of Bob’s legacy. Hope he smiles over there.

Robert H. Grubbs (1942–2021) science.org/doi/10.1126/scie… 💔 💔💔
#BobGrubbs never stopped mentoring. Even in his most difficult time, he asked me to fill him in after a meeting for our paper under revision now, which he couldn’t make. His last email was filled with typos; not until his passing did I fully realize it was filled with his TLC.
We ended up making our own glass @Caltech. As a fan, I couldn’t help naming it Grubbs Extractor. Bob:“That’s a bit cheesy and corny. Call it simply w/o my name.” I didn’t know the simple fact until then - things are found and named by others, if important, not by self-promotion.
I wasn’t as good at making a catalyst as other talented chemists in #BobGrubbs group; instead, I made the Grubbs Cat sign at Church 208 @Caltech. The cat color changes from purple to redbrown to green through generations. No doubt Grubbs cats always prevail in chemistry.
