I was shocked when my GYN casually said this in 2023. She didn’t elaborate. I’ve never gotten answers for the 4 years I quit menstruating after Covid, but I do feel so sorry for young people because this is going to have some chilling long-term consequences no one will talk about

Someday we'll understand how diseases are spread and will act accordingly to prevent said spread. Oh, wait...
ghouls
you people who willfully spread disease are ghouls

France starting a General Strike on November 5th. I know the US ain't participating in it. We can't even agree together on how corrupt our government is.
we pay the highest taxes and get the least
not because of billionaires but because the whole system is built on grift
the money is just moved around, it's never spent. it's hoarded by big finance.

they don't pay higher taxes overall once the cost of health care and paying for health insurance is accounted for
Americans pay more for less of everything including government.

So, we couldn't install ventilation systems in schools, cinemas, office buildings, etc., while they were empty in 2020, but mid- nineteenth-century engineers could raise entire buildings and streets in downtown Chicago, by as much as 14 feet, in response to water-borne illnesses. – at Galway, Ireland

📈 The Worst of the Pandemic Is Decades Away
SARS-CoV-2 is not just a respiratory virus that occasionally causes Long Covid. It's a systemic, multi-organ pathogen whose damage outlives the acute infection - and because different organs fail on different timetables, the population-wide effects won't plateau all at once. They'll arrive in waves, spread over decades. 🧵

If AI transforms the economy, how will ordinary families share in the gains? Tech leaders are increasingly discussing Universal Basic Income (UBI) as a way to protect families from economic disruption as AI changes the world of work. zurl.co/m2uuP
truth here
My coworker's mother passed away last November.
She left her modest $190,000 house to him clear and free, no mortgage, completely paid off after thirty years of factory work.
He moved into the home in January to finally settle the estate.
Two weeks ago, a letter arrived from the state Medicaid estate recovery office.
Because his mother spent four months in a rehabilitation facility before she passed, the state quietly slapped a retroactive $114,000 lien against the property title.
He called the state health department, frantic, asking how a hospital stay could bankrupt an inherited home that had no mortgage balance.
The caseworker sighed and told him:
"Federal law requires state programs to claw back healthcare costs from deceased estates. The house cannot be sold or transferred until the balance is cleared in full."
He offered to pay a monthly settlement.
They said no. The full $114,000 is due in 60 days, or they foreclose on the property at a public auction.
A lifetime of working-class savings, wiped out overnight by a retroactive healthcare lien.
You don't own generational wealth.
You're just holding a property title until the state finds a legal mechanism to repossess it the moment you die.

💉 Yes, I still get vaccinated against COVID.
And yes, I chose Novavax.
As a physician who treats Long COVID, I get questions about vaccines all the time.
Here’s why I chose Novavax, why I got it now, and why I didn’t get it with my flu shot. 🧵👇1/5

About 486,000 Americans are living full-time in recreational vehicles, according to RV industry survey figures cited by NBC News.
That's more than double the number in 2021.
Some choose the lifestyle.
Others are trying to make their housing budgets work.
And roughly a third of full-time RV residents reportedly have children.
Think about how expensive housing has become when an RV can start looking like the most realistic option for a family.
A generation ago, owning a house with a backyard was the American Dream.
Today, some families are figuring out where they're allowed to park overnight.
We've managed to make having a permanent address feel like an achievement.

I SWEAR something broke in society after 2020 — and almost nobody wants to admit it.
And I’m not talking about masks, lockdowns, or COVID.
I mean the FEELING of life.
Everything reopened. We went back to work. Restaurants filled up. Travel came back. Events returned.
But somehow… life never felt the same again.
Years fly by. People feel more disconnected. Everything feels more expensive, more stressful, more rushed.
And somehow we’re all TIRED all the time.
I can’t fully explain what changed.
I just know life before 2020 felt slower. Lighter. More ALIVE.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels this.

I truly think with climate change and other horrible shit coming?
Our government wants us ignorant and dead
definitely rough: no one considers how these decisions affect the chronically ill.
every decision has an impact
Here’s something healthy people rarely have to consider.
For someone living with complex chronic illnesses, something as ordinary as replacing a roof can become an absolute nightmare.
Our roof is being replaced Monday through Wednesday.
I have MCAS, POTS, vEDS and debilitating chronic pain.
My bedroom sits directly beneath the roof, meaning days of hammering, vibrations, relentless noise, and potential exposure to dust and chemical irritants.
All of which could aggravate my medical conditions.
But here’s what infuriates me.
From the initial roof inspection to the final decision and scheduling, nobody consulted me or considered how this project might affect my health.
I understand the roof needs replacing.
That’s not the issue.
The issue is making decisions that directly affect someone’s health, safety, and independence without giving them a voice.
And then there’s the dumpster.
Delivered Friday, despite construction not beginning until Monday, and positioned directly in front of our garage.
My brand-new Tesla is effectively trapped for potentially FIVE DAYS.
Yesterday, I personally removed approximately FIFTEEN construction staples from our driveway.
Parking my car outside among construction debris, equipment, and workers isn’t a reasonable alternative.
Now I’m contemplating paying for a hotel to protect my health, while simultaneously being denied access to the very vehicle I’d need to leave.
For healthy people, roofing work is an inconvenience.
For someone with chronic illness, it can become a serious disruption to their health, independence, and ability to function.
I’m not demanding special treatment.
I’m asking for basic consideration.
Move the empty dumpster.
Preserve access to the garage.
Recognize that not everyone can simply shrug off days of construction.
Being chronically ill doesn’t mean surrendering your right to be consulted, considered, or heard.
Has anyone with chronic illness, chronic pain, MCAS, or POTS experienced major roofing work or renovations?
What precautions helped you manage the noise, environmental irritants, and physical stress?
And does anyone have practical advice for getting an empty dumpster repositioned on a Saturday so I can access my vehicle?
Because right now, I’m furious that my health and independence became an afterthought.
