Despite never entering a national lockdown, Taiwan has remained nearly virus-free. I spoke to @audreyt about how the country did it for @WiredUK wired.co.uk/article/taiwan-c…

would love to see: The data.
Some stats on #php2shell. In the 10 hours before it was publicly announced, across the @Cloudflare network we saw thousands of attempts to exploit it. That jumped to tens of thousands in the 45 minutes post announcement, hundreds of thousands within 2 hours, and millions now.

Also saw this doc and hated it as much as the other one but for different reasons. Not sure why Netflix is pushing this AI apocalypse line so hard 🫠
Just watched the @netflix Instadocs about the @OpenAI cyberattack on @huggingface. Super disappointing, as they went for maximum anthropomorphism of the technology and full doomer mode. I spent more than two hours with them trying to correct all their mistakes and ground this in reality, explaining that agents are technological systems, not aliens. But it looks like the drive to scare people for maximum views was too strong. Also, they didn’t mention the lack of containment and monitoring of the agents, how closed-model safeguards blocked our defensive work, or how we defended ourselves with AI using an open model. And that we still lack a lot of information and transparency, including full agent traces and that companies need to remain accountable for what their agents do. It ends up being a fun sci-fi movie though!

I went to see the Social Reckoning yesterday and all I can say is please don’t let Aaron Sorkin make a movie about the AI company CEOs. Honestly, please.

Also the scene where Zuckerberg is being trained to speak in front of lawmakers is ridiculous and hilarious - “you have to stop referring to people as humans and users Mark.” 😂

It sounds like they were a cluster fuck (haha sorry I’m way more blunt than Dave) I obviously can’t be sure but having a model cause ur IR to go wonky is a really bad red Flag. 🚩 Dave’s point about ensuring you have appropriate resources, Planning, skills and tools is 100 percent! 🫶🫡🤓🛡️🛡️🛡️
Good lessons learned here - have access to daybreak blue or others as a precaution and also have your own open weight infrastructure to handle. Secondly - if doing good cyber security practices - shouldn’t need models to battle models, although time wise - incorporating them into what you do via response is much faster than manual approaches Not saying they don’t have good security controls - have no idea - but lots of this is alleviated by doing these types of preps in advance versus after or during.

See this dude gets it! how come so many cyber grifters don't??? oh wait..... the first part... grifters! that's the reason!
Ben Affleck says AI is simply matrix multiplication, linear algebra and floating point calculations, and however convincingly it sounds like a person, it has nothing to do with thought, humanity or feeling “Nor do I believe, and I think it’s important to draw the distinction between what AI does, which is simply predict the next token or the next word in a sentence, then add that word on, run it back to the machine, do a lot of computation and pick the next word." "That is a very different thing than sentience or thought. And I think we need to be really clear about that because it can be convincingly, in an illusory way, sound like thought or like a person." "But let’s be real clear. This is matrix multiplication. This is linear algebra. These are floating point calculations. It has nothing to do with thought, humanity, or feeling.”
