Interesting discovery that fura Ca+ fluorescent dyes are actually myosin inhibitors comparable to blebbistatin
Replying to @cardiacpolymath
23/ It appears the dye works on the same spot as blebbistatin, you can use one drug to fight with the other
So why is this important?
~2000 ❤️ papers have been done in the presence of a myosin inhibitor that was disguised as a dye - the experimenters probably didn't want that

In a recent perspective article, @magni_fye and Irina @KaverinaLab discuss insulin secretion hot spots, which are regions of clustered insulin secretion at the pancreatic β cell membrane.
Check out their @FrontCellDevBio article!

High-throughput methods for analyzing single-cell secretion in beta cells did not exist, which prevented the application of CRISPR to study insulin secretion.
Two groups from @VanderbiltMPB and @VanderbiltCDB have now fixed this issue.
