Curious how long it will take the @NIH to fix this now-confirmed-as-unconstitutional termination
Yesterday, the NIH R35 “Outstanding Investigator” grant to fund scientists in my lab studying antibiotic resistance was terminated for reasons not related to the content of the science, or any actions taken by me or members of my lab

If you're at one of the targeted institutions and have an active NIH grant you might want to check ERA Commons immediately for an "updated" NoA

And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Go Sox
Boston is the worst city in America. Lawless dystopia of maniacal motorists parking in bike lanes, fire lanes, the middle of the street. City designed as if the planner tossed cat entrails onto a map and traced them. Hideous, angry people. There is no God here.

Just heard that Vanderbilt rescinded all of its PhD offers because of NIH and NSF funding cuts and that Washington University St Louis is claiming that the STEM fields fund all the other depts and will be looking at cutting arts, etc.

Without NIH funds to run research labs at academic institutions, as a country we cannot train PhD students. No physician scientists. No undergraduates get experience in labs. Nothing. Industry does none of these things. Other countries will have to take the lead.

No reasonable path to “efficiency” or American success involves firing scientists indiscriminately. The point is that it’s cruel and senseless
My heart is breaking for the ~4000 staff that were fired at NIH this morning and the ones in intramural research awaiting emails telling them if they too are being fired. This includes anyone probationary:Research Fellows, Staff Scientists, GS employees, Tenure-tracks
