When John Lee Hooker released “Boogie Chillen’” in 1948, it became his first No. 1 R&B hit, built on nothing but electric guitar, foot-stomp rhythm, and pure feel.
Hooker revisited the song many times over the years, reshaping it with new arrangements and band lineups, allowing it to evolve while keeping its hypnotic core intact.
