I'm not sure if others in higher ed are noticing a decline in student achievement this semester, but it's been pronounced in my courses--particularly freshmen. I have a 101 course where, for the first time in my 12 years teaching it, no student earned an A on an exam.

Need anyone not currently involved in higher ed to understand how insane things are rn. The seminar class I’m in (all upperclassmen!) just refuses to interact with our professor, even on questions like “which video games do you like?” It’s so so so so bad.

in my experience it’s about shifting the “do I want to do this?” internal monologue/testing to “I want to have already done this.” Own the discomfort of not wanting to do it; ADHD prevents us from placing ourselves in a world where the task is done and we feel satisfaction.

Bear 89, aka Backpack, is the 2026 Fat Bear Week champ. Turns out hefty runs in the family.
His mom, Holly the Duchess of Density, won in 2019. She carried him on her back as a cub and helped him survive a serious leg injury. Now her little Backpack has a crown of his own. 👑
