The love for Peter Obi was on full display at an Imo State market as market women warmly welcomed him, presenting food items and bringing their babies forward for his blessings.
Beyond politics, these moments reflect a deep connection between a leader and ordinary Nigerians. The love, warmth and affection were truly beautiful to witness.
Do these prosecutors get a special prize or promotion for putting innocent people behind bars?
This is just sickening!
Jonathan Fleming told police he was at Disney World when his friend was sh0t and k*lled in Brooklyn.
He was telling the truth. And the evidence was in his pocket when they arrested him.
Darryl Rush, known to friends as “Black,” was shot and k*lled in Brooklyn in the early hours of August 15, 1989. Fleming said he was in Orlando, Florida, on a Disney World trip with his mother, Patricia—roughly 1,100 miles away.
From the beginning, Fleming maintained that he was innocent. He had plane tickets, postcards and video from the trip.
But a woman identified him as the sh**ter. In 1990, he was convicted and sentenced to 25 years to life.
Before he was even sentenced, the woman recanted. She admitted that she had lied, saying she hoped her testimony would persuade police to drop an unrelated arrest against her.
Prosecutors argued that her original testimony was truthful, and Fleming’s conviction remained in place. His appeals failed.
Then, in 2013, his lawyers asked the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office to review the case.
The Conviction Integrity Unit examined the old files and uncovered evidence that should have raised serious questions from the beginning.
Among the documents was a receipt from an Orlando hotel showing that Fleming had paid a telephone bill there about five hours before the mu*der. The receipt had been taken from his pocket when police arrested him.
There was also a 1989 letter from Orlando police to New York detectives. It said hotel employees remembered seeing Fleming in Orlando. His defence had never been given that information.
Investigators also found police records indicating that the witness had received a reward connected to her testimony.
On April 8, 2014, prosecutors and defence lawyers stood together before a Brooklyn judge and jointly asked for Fleming’s conviction to be overturned.
After nearly 25 years behind bars, Fleming walked free that same day. He was 51 years old.
In June 2015, New York City agreed to pay him $6.25 million.
For almost a quarter of a century, Jonathan Fleming had insisted he was telling the truth.
The evidence supporting his alibi had been in the police files all along.
He lost 25 years of his life—but he never stopped saying he was innocent.

My landlord has always been a very strict man. He does not listen to his tenants at all. When he increased our rent from 500,000 naira to 750,000 naira, we all begged him to reduce it but he refused.
Out of annoyance, tenants started moving out and he said he cared less.
One lady did not move out. Her rent was due for renewal at the end of February. She traveled on Valentine's Day and did not return until the end of June.
The landlord kept coming to check her room for any sign that she was back. Nothing.
After four months of expired rent, he decided to break her door open.
Guess what he found?
She had moved out since February. She just locked the door and left so he could not rent the room to anyone else.
My landlord almost ran mad that day. 😂
Above all, love God.
My landlord increased our Room and Parlour self contain from ₦500,000 to ₦850,000.
We all tried to talk to him but he refused, he said if we can't pay we should move out.
It's new session for FUNAAB students and students are currently looking for houses to rent that's what he told us.
One of my neighbours told him to his face he paid for 2 years and that New payment won't work for him.
Out of annoyance the following day he gave him notice to quit.
The guy came this evening, brought thugs, they've beaten the landlord and his wife...
Then he carried few bags, locked his door and left.
Serves him right.
These guys have been doing too much.
A food influencer went to a restaurant and asked them to give him free food in exchange for a good review. He even showed them his accounts across all social media platforms, but they declined and asked him to pay for his food.
He bought the food and went on to give them a horrible review. The restaurant saw the video and released footage of him begging them for free food. 😭😭🤣🤣🤣

Since the death of Javit Frimpong, I have been struggling with a certain thought in my mind, and I think I am beginning to understand something.
I have come to believe that one of the biggest problems in certain African American communities is the lack of a culture of accountability. And I will tell you why I think this matters.
When you look at some of the things happening in America – the street fights, the violence, the constant confrontations you come across on social media – then you ask: why is it mostly Black Americans?
And when you see some white Americans displaying racist attitudes, I think there is another question we need to ask ourselves. If you were in their position, would you genuinely want to associate with people whose behaviour you constantly see being hostile? Would you willingly want to be associated with a community that is repeatedly presented through violence and confrontation?
This does not justify racism, but it is worth examining how certain behaviours shape people's perceptions.
Another thing is that Africans are often quick to defend African Americans whenever racism becomes an issue. We join the conversation, we express solidarity and we speak up. But do we always receive that same solidarity in return?
I think we need to start telling ourselves the truth. Being Black does not automatically make us the same people. Being African does not make you African American, and being African American does not make you African.
So, when we discuss behaviour, achievements, failures and social problems in America, we should learn to distinguish between these different communities rather than putting everybody into one category.
We cannot keep confusing shared skin colour with shared culture, identity and responsibility.
Rest in peace Javit Frimpong

"Sir, I'm emailing you a picture. Please open it."
I could hear him breathing on the other end.
"That's your loading door at 6:02am. Our driver waited 41 minutes. The lateness was your staff, not mine."
He started to speak. She didn't let him.
"You can apologize to my employee, or you can find another laundry. Take your time. I'll wait."
The line stayed silent for almost a full minute. I could hear the office clock.
Then he said, very quietly, "I'm sorry."
She handed the headset back to me.
He said it again, to me this time, and his voice cracked on the second word.
The following Monday, there was a handwritten card on my desk. Inside, in tidy block letters:
"Door will be open by 6. Thank you for your patience."
My manager added one line to every contract that month. "Respectful communication is a condition of service."
She calls it the kindness clause.
The hotel is still our biggest account.
