Thrilled to share that our group @wmchemistry has received the @NSF CAREER award! Special thanks to all my mentors, collaborators, and students! @williamandmary Link to award: nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAwar…
So honored to have received this award! Many thanks to colleagues and students, and congratulations to all the awardees!
Looking forward to the new research and educational directions made possible by the @dreyfusfndn!

Replying to @dreyfusfndn
Congratulations to Dr. Nathan Kidwell (@KidwellLaserLab) at @williamandmary for being named a 2024 Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar! @wmchemistry #DreyfusAwards
Newest publication from the @KidwellLaserLab out now in @PCCP as a part of the Emerging Investigators themed collection! Congrats to all our student authors! @wmchemistry @williamandmary

Had a great week at the @molspect conference! My student, Garrett, gave a great talk and many donuts were consumed! Glad to see our Synergy Between Experiment and Theory mini-symposium co-organized with @CPuzzarini so well attended! Also, so honored to receive the Flygare Award!
Our group's newest article is published in @Faraday_D! This study focuses on the isomer-specific scattering mechanisms between nitric oxide (NO) and ethane (C2H6), encoded in the spectroscopic and dynamical signatures of the NO–C2H6 collision complex.
pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti…
We compare the dynamics from NO–C2H6 and NO–CH4 vibrational predissociation, in which substantial differences are observed in the energy exchange mechanisms during the evolution of the collision complexes to products. NO-CH4 experiences JT dynamics, while NO–C2H6 is pseudo JT.
It was a wonderful time presenting our work and participating in the discussions at the accompanying @Faraday_D meeting on New Directions in Molecular Scattering! @KidwellLaserLab @williamandmary @wmchemistry
Proud of our group's newest alumni! L-R: Sophie, Garrett and Churchill. These students completed either a Senior or Honors Thesis (details below) and propelled our group to new and greater heights! Sophie and Garrett will be returning as MS students in our group! @wmchemistry
Garrett carried out Senior Thesis work, revealing the inelastic scattering mechanisms from bimolecular collisions of nitric oxide (NO) and increasingly-larger alkane partners. Garrett's MS work will center on studying chemical transformation mechanisms from reactive collisions.
Abstract submission for the @molspect ISMS meeting is just under 2 weeks away! Please consider submitting your abstracts to the "Synergy Between Experiment and Theory" mini-symposium co-organized by Cristina Puzzarini (@CPuzzarini) and myself! (1/3)
This mini-symposium will focus on the synergy between experiment and theory in the field of spectroscopy and dynamics, emphasizing collaborative insights that are gained where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. (2/3)
I had a wonderful visit to @UWChemistry, meeting the amazing faculty and students! Many thanks to Anne McCoy for the invitation to talk about our group's latest results!
TOMORROW (1/24): Join us for Nathan Kidwell's #physicalchemistry seminar, “Quantum-State Control on Multidimensional Potential Energy Surfaces: Driving Chemical Outcomes with Spectroscopic Accuracy,” at 11:30 AM in CHB 102.

It was truly an honor to help put this @JPhysChem Festschrift together for Marsha Lester @PennChemistry with Anne McCoy, Julia Lehman, and Stephen Klippenstein! What a wonderful tribute to a phenomenal scientist in our community!

How do water-solvent interactions shape chromophore photophysical outcomes at interfaces? Check out the synergistic tools we use to link the two! Great, collaborative work with @danielptabor and Andrew Petit (@csuf)!
Combining experimental and theoretical methods, this work reveals the structure and spectroscopic signatures of water-solvated 2-phenylpyrrole to characterize absorption outcomes of chromophores at brown carbon interfaces @wmchemistry @TAMUChemistry @CSUF

Don’t forget, the CMCC is running an REU program. Curious about what happens when you smash, mash, and bash reactions? We are too! Applications are open until 1/31. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.
