As Kilifi County joins the Judiciary in celebrating 10 years of the Alternative Justice Systems (AJS), I encourage residents to take advantage of the Open Day, Service Week and Free Legal Aid Clinic. This is an opportunity to seek legal guidance, understand your rights and explore accessible ways of resolving disputes. 📅 26th–30th October 2026 📍 Karisa Maitha Ground, Kilifi No one should be denied justice because they cannot afford legal assistance.

Through the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP2), we have upgraded key roads in Kalolo, Kibaoni, Baya Magonzi and Mtaani in Kilifi Town. The works include Msenangu Butchery Road, Kibaoni Primary School Road, Uwanja wa Water–Kaya Road and Samaki Poa Road, complemented by improved drainage, street lighting and footpaths. For residents, this means easier access to schools, homes and businesses, safer movement and reduced flooding risks. Our commitment remains clear: no community should be left behind as we build a safer, more accessible and prosperous Kilifi. #𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐭𝐮

Iwe usiku au mchana, Kilifi lazima ing’are! #𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐭𝐮

I attended the 10th German-African Healthcare Forum 2026, held on the sidelines of the World Health Summit in Berlin, Germany, alongside CECM for Health and Sanitation, Hon. Peter Mwarogo. During the forum, I held separate engagements with Siemens and other leading medical technology companies to explore opportunities for acquiring MRI, mammography and echocardiogram equipment to strengthen diagnostic services in Kilifi. Our discussions also focused on streamlining procurement processes, ensuring value for money, and establishing sustainable arrangements for equipment servicing, maintenance and technical support. I further emphasised the need for German medical equipment manufacturers to partner with African training institutions to develop local technical expertise, ensuring that modern medical equipment can be effectively serviced and maintained long after warranty periods expire. The forum also explored stronger Africa-Germany cooperation in healthcare, the One Health approach linking human and animal health, local pharmaceutical manufacturing, research, innovation and data-driven health planning. Held on the sidelines of the World Health Summit 2026, which attracted over 4,000 participants from 130 countries and territories, the engagements highlighted the importance of international partnerships in strengthening healthcare systems. @DOHKilifi @KilifiCountyGov

What happens when fisheries development goes beyond boats and fishing gear to create new opportunities for entire communities? In Kilifi County, an integrated Blue Economy approach is opening new pathways for economic empowerment, environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods. Through the Kenya Marine Fisheries and Socio-Economic Development (KEMFSED) Project, implemented between 2020 and 2025 with World Bank support, approximately KSh 1.48 billion was invested in 287 sub-projects across 32 wards and 6 sub-counties. The impact has been significant! The project directly benefited 24,519 people, including 14,767 women, through investments in fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture, livestock, conservation and community enterprises. In Dabaso, community members have turned mangrove conservation into an income-generating venture through crab farming and eco-tourism. Meanwhile, the Ihaleni–Kakuluni Conservation Group recorded a 40–50% increase in milkfish production, showing how communities can diversify beyond traditional fishing. Kilifi's experience demonstrates that a thriving Blue Economy is not just about harvesting marine resources. It is about creating opportunities, protecting ecosystems and building resilient communities. I participated in a high-level roundtable discussion on Advancing Maternal Health Through AI-Medical Solutions at the World Health Summit 2026 in Berlin, Germany, organised by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) in partnership with Philips. Joined by Kilifi CECM for Health, Hon. Peter Mwarogo, I engaged with Prof. Marleen Temmerman of Aga Khan University, Nairobi, Dr. Matthew Rielly of Philips, Prof. Stephen Rulisa of ECSACOG, and Dr. Jirair Ratevosian of Duke Global Health Institute, alongside doctors, researchers and healthcare experts from across the world. Our discussions focused on AI-supported point-of-care ultrasound, a technology that can bring essential pregnancy scans closer to mothers, support early detection of complications and enable timely referrals, particularly in underserved communities. I shared Kilifi’s journey in implementing healthcare innovations, the challenges encountered and opportunities to expand these solutions through stronger partnerships, training and investment. #worldhealthsummit2026

Ahead of the World Health Summit, 2026, in Berlin, Germany, I paid a courtesy call on Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Stella Mokaya Orina, accompanied by CECM for Health, Hon. Peter Mwarogo. The visit follows an invitation by Philips, a valued partner in advancing healthcare delivery in Kilifi, to address and preside over a session at the Summit. I appreciate the continued support of Philips and Aga Khan University, Nairobi, in strengthening our healthcare sector and opening doors to greater collaboration with global healthcare companies and professionals. Turning global partnerships into lasting benefits for our people. #worldhealthsummit2026 @KenyaembassyGER

DAY 8 OF 20 | JONATHAN DANIEL MTURI FROM RIBE TO THE HELM OF KENYA’S TRANSPORT INSTITUTIONS Greatness often begins in the most humble places. Today, we celebrate Jonathan Daniel Mturi, a son of Ribe, Kilifi County, whose distinguished career took him to the leadership of two of Kenya’s most important transport institutions. From his early service with the East African Railways and Harbours system, Mturi rose to become Port Manager of Mombasa and later Managing Director of the Kenya Ports Authority, playing a leadership role in a sector vital to Kenya’s trade and economic growth. His service extended to the railways when, in 2008, President Mwai Kibaki appointed him Chairman of the Kenya Railways Corporation. Two critical sectors. One remarkable journey of service. Through his leadership, Mturi contributed to institutions that connect Kenya to regional and international markets, facilitate commerce and support livelihoods. His story is a reminder that Kilifi’s contribution to nation-building extends far beyond our county’s borders. As Governor, I honour Jonathan Daniel Mturi for his distinguished public service and the example he set for generations to come. From Ribe to the nation, his legacy remains a source of pride for Kilifi.
