We’ve watched a bunch of Godzilla films this weekend and it really struck me how so much of the things that make his design interesting are limitations of the rubber suit.

He has to have the shoulders and arms’ length of a man, he doesn’t blink, his neck is kinda stiff. Even in CGI when you can make him more lizardy, you shouldn’t. That’s how you get Zilla.

As an older millennial that was a teenager for these movies, I do not remember anybody saying the prequels sucked at the time. That was social media revisionism by nerdy edgelords on social media 10 years later. Episode I is a masterpiece (and Empire is still my favorite)
