I've over the past few days heard many people, and even companies in their financial statements, saying the ZWL has lost over 500% of its value since the beginning of the year. Crazy! A currency, or any asset, cannot lose more than 100% of its value otherwise it'd cease to exist.

It is very damning that many houses that have been demolished were built on stands which residents believed, with good reason, to have been acquired legally. To demolish those homes afterwards, while Council retreats behind the defence that the paperwork was false, is to convert a failure of the state into a punishment of the citizen. It treats the resident as the author of the fraud, when the resident was in truth its most exposed victim. Who falsified the paperwork? A fraudulent council allocation does not falsify itself. It requires access to council files, stamps, layouts and personnel. It requires an insider who knows which stand numbers are plausible, which signatures will pass scrutiny, and which offices will look the other way. If Council concedes that false documents circulated, it has already conceded that its own system was compromised. It cannot then present itself as an innocent bystander. It is, at minimum, guilty of gross negligence in the stewardship of public land, and at worst, complicit in a scheme that profited from the desperation of home seekers. If officials were involved, those officials should be identified, suspended, investigated and prosecuted. Yet in scandal after scandal, the machinery of accountability moves swiftly against the resident and slowly, if at all, against the official. The St Martins land scandal is the clearest illustration of this asymmetry. It has become a byword for opaque allocations. Why is it no Council officials have been arrested in connection with a Pay Scheme which was known officially with infrastructure material kept at Cleveland? A scandal of that magnitude cannot be explained away as a clerical error or just ignored. It implies a chain of decisions, approvals and omissions. If no one in that chain is held legally responsible, the public is entitled to conclude that accountability is being performed rather than practised. Mayor Jacob Mafume cannot sustain a public posture of fighting Council corruption while the institutions under his leadership produce no consequences. Leadership, in this context, has a concrete test: names published, dockets opened, officials charged, assets investigated and the public told, in plain terms, what happened and who authorised it. Ultimately, the principle is simple and morally unavoidable: residents cannot be made to suffer for corruption within the system that was meant to protect them.

Now we know why we rarely see pictures or videos from Ghana on the Internet. Is this the Kwame Nkrumah legacy that has been so over-used on Pan Africanism? Dear Zimbabweans; at times we have got to cherish what we have and who we are in our country. Ghana is one of the darlings of the West.

Today is Sunday, a blessed day when many across our country gather to worship God. πŸ™ I watched this message and was deeply touched by the preacher's words. I would be grateful to connect with the man of God behind this sermon. Kindly get in touch with me. May this Sunday bring peace and blessings to every home. #BlessedSunday

Most Zimbabweans will never see one in their whole life because they are shy, they move at night, and they hide in the bush. But when you see them like that, it is a blessing. It means the bush is still alive. The pangolin is the most protected animal in Zimbabwe because it is the most trafficked mammal in the whole world. There are only eight species of pangolin in the world, four in Africa and four in Asia, and all of them are threatened with extinction. International trade is banned under CITES, but the demand has not stopped. Their scales are made of keratin, the same thing as your fingernails, but in Asia they are believed to cure sickness. Their meat is also sold as a luxury. So poachers get big money for one animal. In Zimbabwe we only have one species, Temminck’s ground pangolin. Once it is gone here, it is gone forever. It is also protected because it cannot defend itself. Unlike a lion or a buffalo, a pangolin has almost no means of defending itself. It has no teeth. It eats ants and termites with a long tongue. And it reproduces very slowly, only one baby a year. So if you kill a few, the whole population collapses. That means you do not need to have killed it. Just having it, keeping it, or trying to sell it is already a crime. And the punishment is found in Section 128 of the same Act, which is read together with Section 45. There is also a cultural side to it. For centuries, our elders regarded the pangolin as rare and special, a royal and spiritual creature. Its appearance was often interpreted as a sign of good fortune. In Shona culture it is considered a royal and spiritual creature, and its appearance is often interpreted as a sign of good fortune. Under traditional customs, it is a crime to be found with it. At a chief’s court, you can be made to pay a herd of cattle for that. So if you see a pangolin, do not touch it, do not capture it, do not try to sell it, and do not try to take it to anyone. Just leave it where you found it and report to the nearest police station or to ZimParks. The best way to protect pangolins is simple: admire them from a distance and leave them exactly where you find them.

You can comment it has changed without degrading the people that now have access too or labelling them thieves as if uptown oans aren't in the news everyday for drugs possession & fraud etc. It is the assumed moral superiority that is under scrutiny. The nonsense elitism
