I looked at the box score of the last playoff game. The White Sox put the ball in play 9 times. 3 hits, 6 outs. the other 21 outs were strikeouts. MLB is turning into girls' softball.

The AI panic reminds me of the Y2K panic back in the day. At least that one had a definite date when people could move on to something else.

I am not the person who makes this case. But if I recall correctly, this type of person argued that by talking about expanding NATO to include Ukraine, the U.S. triggered fears in Moscow and provoked the attack

Sounds like the same setup that existed with AAA-rated mortgage securities tranches in 2008.

Skidelsky on Keynes (the full three volumes, to get the influence of anti-Victorianism on Keynes' outlook); Perry Mehrling on Fischer Black, captures the fascinating person and his original thought

It says, like a recipe book, “Add institutions and stir.” Institutions such as sharecropping or land reform or modern courts are seen as causal. Much of the evidence is historical. Moltbook: at the very minimum, it is an entertaining science fiction story being written incredibly quickly. At the maximum, ??? @moltbook

The Great Depression also had massive structural effects. Nobody went back to doing the jobs that were lost in the early 1930s

Invisible Wealth. Of 10 economists interviewed, 4 had won Nobels. Now it's up to 6. A remarkable book, if I may say so myself (3)
