After a five-year legal fight, the government has finally named more than 30 senior Conservatives who referred companies into the Covid PPE VIP lane. Eight of Boris Johnson's cabinet ministers appear, including Dominic Raab, Robert Buckland, Simon Hart and Robert Jenrick. Matt Hancock is linked to 27 firms, Lord Feldman to 21 and Lord Agnew to 14. Michael Gove, Grant Shapps and Graham Brady are also named. Sarah Ferguson referred a small pharmaceutical company that shut down in 2022. Companies that got this fast-track treatment were ten times more likely to win contracts, yet large amounts of the kit later proved useless. The Covid Inquiry called the system inherently biased.

Lord Khan has been accused of a cover-up over an ‘unlawfully’ introduced speed limit estimated to have led to more than 66,000 wrongful fines.
The Mayor of London vetoed an independent investigation into a temporary speed limit change that caught out tens of thousands of drivers and raised more than £6m for his cash-strapped Transport for London service.
A TfL spokesman said: “It is incorrect to suggest that TfL or its staff misled the courts or anybody else in this case and any suggestion of wrongdoing, or that evidence or information was improperly withheld, is false."
