Atheists sometimes tell me I have to choose between God and science. I do not, and neither do you. There is nothing anti-scientific about the idea that an all-powerful, transcendent super-intelligence created the universe and wrote its laws. In fact, it's far more believable to me that this is the explanation for our lawful, intelligible universe than the story I was expected to believe as an atheist - that the universe "just is" or that it's somehow lawful and intelligible despite having no intelligence or will behind it. But what about the big bang? Is that a problem for a Bible-believing Christian? Not at all. Leave aside the age issue - which is frankly the least explosive part of all this - and consider how modern science has caught up with the Genesis narrative in the last 100 years. Modern science has figured out that the universe isn't eternal, as people thought for thousands of years, but suddenly came into being a finite time ago just as Genesis 1:1 describes. I do not have to give up God to believe that. In fact, as a scientist, it's the only way I can make sense of why the universe exists at all and is the way it is. Don't let anyone tell you that you have to choose between God's two books - the Bible and his creation. They are wonderfully compatible.

I’ve been seeing this for years: Me: here’s an argument demonstrating that there’s a necessary being Atheist: but that doesn’t prove the being is conscious Me: here’s an argument demonstrating the necessary being is conscious Atheist: but that doesn’t prove the necessary being is perfect Me: here’s an argument demonstrating the necessary being is perfect Atheist: but that doesn’t prove it’s the God of Christianity Me: here’s an argument demonstrating Christianity is true Atheist: but that doesn’t prove your denomination is true 👆this is called “moving the goalposts.” Just because I happen to be a Christian, that doesn’t mean every single argument I make proves my entire theology. Some arguments demonstrate some things, and some arguments demonstrate other specific things. Lawyers do the same thing. They use one argument to demonstrate motive, then they use another argument to demonstrate the suspect was able to commit the crime, then another argument for why it’s likely they did commit the crime, etc. Different arguments for different things, it’s not that complicated.

They should come up with a name for someone that tries to hurt you after you help them. Maybe named after an animal.

"You're not a Christian if you're not being nice!!!" To be Christian is to love, and you cannot love properly without a love for truth and justice. I've watched the astroturfed cultural ROT of this industry for over a decade. I've watched the WORST type of people actively contribute to its degradation while enjoying positions of considerable cultural influence. I take no pleasure in suffering for its own sake. But I absolutely celebrate when those responsible for spreading this rot lose the positions that enabled them to do so. Every time the industry is showing evidence of course-correction, I will celebrate with my entire being. Christian charity does not demand indifference toward wrongdoing, nor does it forbid rejoicing when justice prevails.
Replying to @Daboochy @IGN
You're not Christian btw if you're celebrating and mocking people losing their jobs. Not even remotely God like or Christ like. Either practice what you claim to believe, or remove the cross from your name. Better off being a nonbeliever than a heretic.

I love Job for many reasons, but mainly because it does a very clever jujitsu move on you as a reader. You start out thinking you've seen behind the curtain -- the scene in heaven w/ God & Satan making bets about Job. So then after Job's trials, as his four friends come visit him to give their theories of why Job is in the predicament he's in, you've got your own little theory based on the opening scene, right? You're essentially the fifth friend who has their own read of the situation. Then God comes in at the end and is like, "all your theories are wrong. None of you were there at The Beginning, and none of you know enough of the real backstory to really understand what's happening here. None of you can actually tame the chaos monster and organize all the things into a coherent whole. Only I can do that." You, the reader, think God is calling out Job and maybe his four friends. But He's calling you out, too. You, the reader, are in the same boat as Job and his four friends. You think you have enough info about what is going on with Job because you saw the opening scene in heaven, but actually you're just as clueless and limited as the story's characters. So the opener of the story is actually a trap, and the conclusion springs it on you. You think you have the backstory via some special perspective, but you're just like all the other confused people in the story. You don't really know and you're not ever going to know, either. Job's lesson is that not only does God not owe you a theodicy (so stop expecting one), but even if you could see into the unseen realm you still wouldn't have a clue. You're never going to have enough information to put the whole, chaotic picture together in some satisfactory way. It's never going to all hang together in a coherent way that makes sense. In some ways, I think Job is a coming of age story. This is one of things you learn in midlife -- that the pieces actually didn't ever fit together like you once thought they did, and the fact that it used to make coherent sense to you says more about who you were in that phase of life than it does about any larger meaning behind the events themselves. The Job story is literally yelling at you that you cannot organize the chaos of life events into a coherent "why" -- it's simply beyond you. That you once thought you could was the arrogance of youth. God is actually the only one strong enough to tame the chaos monster & split its carcass into a neat, ordered, coherent structure. This isn't the answer anyone wants, but it's the only answer that's telling you like it is. Anyway, Job is a great book. The haters are wrong. I like it because I don't like to be lied to.
was invited to a signal gc called Jobchat but contrary to what you might expect it turned out to be a Book of Job reading group

So in the middle of the Malfoid craze, scientists for the first time in history discover a star that would have the Slytherin color scheme. And it's in the constellation she's named after. Malfoid is starting to become genuinely strong evidence for the existence of God.

What are the actual odds that, in the same month we have the Malfoid movement, scientists just so happen to discover: 1. A heart shaped nebula in Cassiopeia (M-shaped constellation near Draco), & 2. The first ever instance of a green star in the universe in Draco itself??
Astronomers have found the first green star in the universe. It’s small, it’s white, it glows green, and it lives in the constellation Draco. Darling, they found me in the sky 💚
