The front-side hip has to accept pressure into the ground to create a usable front leg. We apply pressure into the ground every time we walk why would hitting suddenly be different?
Too many hitters are being taught to “stay back,” and all it does is trap them on the backside of the zone. Now the shoulders get steep, the rear hip stays high at contact, and the body starts coming off the ball the instant contact happens.
How does that survive against a high-and-away pitch? It doesn’t. You’re already pulling away from the ball.
And body type matters. How can we tell a 100-pound female athlete not to use and compress her front side? She needs the ground. She needs that front-side pressure to create direction, stability, rotation, and something to actually turn against.
The front side isn’t something to avoid. It’s directional. You have to learn how to use it if you want to become a complete hitter.
@KristahLeclair spent this weekend learning how to create that front-side compression, accept pressure into the ground, and give her body a stronger direction to turn through the ball.

Been an overwhelming summer in the best way, with athletes traveling in from across the country to train.
Over the last year, I’ve had the opportunity to work with numerous athletes from the Rhode Island Thunder softball program a very strong organization with a proven track record of developing players and placing them at every level of college softball.
This week I had the opportunity to spend two days working with @Piper2709500 and @KristahLeclair , while continuing the work and development with @SophGutierrez27.
I appreciate the trust these athletes and families continue to put in me. When players from programs like Rhode Island Thunder continue making the trip, it means a lot.
