I have made the move to BlueSky (@kaykubena.bsky.social). I’d love to get a starter pack together for AP Stats teachers over there. Let’s continue to learn and share with each other (like the old days.) Please join me! #APstats

Connected rates of change with Y13. I made these examples up fairly quickly because I wanted them to sketch the graphs, then asked them to choose some sensible values (the red numbers) and we calculated the rates. It turned out to be a really nice progression of questions.

Tootsie Pop time! How many licks does it take to get to the center? We box plotted the results and described the distribution in AP Stats. @BellaireHigh #apstats

I love teaching the online, College Board workshops for AP Stats. These teachers from all over the country have taught all day and were still willing to do a little stats with me for a couple of hours this evening! #apstats @CollegeBoard #dedicatedteachers

Session 4: Annotations and SRCs…I found out that annotations in text based math questions must be modeled. I must become more deliberate about connecting words with choosing the correct solution strategy. @BellaireHigh @HoustonISD #cardinalproud

I presented job-a-like PD in @HoustonISD today. New AP Precal T’s are exploring “change in tandem” using vases of different shapes and cups of rice. Can you predict the graph relating volume and height? What about concavity? @BellaireHigh @chopra_reena @WallaceMathBHS #apprecal

A scientist showed her students words and names like “biologist,” “Julie,” “Richard,” and “chemist.” How easily did they associate female names with science words? Watch them try:

Here is my last virtual APSI group of the summer! We did a quick regression activity with books (pages vs thickness) and Stapplet…and then worked with discrete probability models. @RiceUniversity @RiceCCR #apstats

I can’t tell you how much I love Stapplet for collaborative data collection. What’s your perfect banana number? Describe the banana preference distribution. Thanks for hosting @RiceUniversity! These Stats teachers are amazing! @RiceCCR #apstats
