Bessent (The 🏠) conducted a $6 billion 10–20 year buyback on Thursday, Oct 1. This was the 1st time since Bessent expanded the program that he used the maximum. The operation’s settlement date was Friday, Oct 2, so Treasury cash went to sellers, & arguably provided ongoing liquidity support entering NFP on Friday morning.
Bessent’s $6B Thursday buyback is particularly notable, as he had meaningfully undershot his buyback caps in all preceding operations. Then, immediately ahead of NFP, Bessent suddenly used the entire $6B capacity.
Simultaneously, on Thursday, Bessent publicly pressured European governments to accelerate releases of diesel supplies, forcing WTI down -3.7% Friday morning, helping ease a primary inflation pressure on Treasuries & equities.
Using this algo daily for years, and it still amazes me. $SPX 7620 -> 7750. Stayed long from yesterdays low into today's high. What a weapon🪓

The trades were pretty straightforward for today as we had a clean box to work with. We got the breakdown short overnight which targeted Friday’s cash hours high 7718.25. From there, the "gap fill" reversal long off 7718.25 played out. On the opening drive higher, we then got a gap fill reversal back to the downside off the bottom of the box. Bulls were able to stick a higher low relative to the overnight on a LBAF the IB low, reclaim the box and head to the weekly 7783-7787 level before fading and consolidating. These are my kinds of trades, straightforward and clean. Naturally the 5pm close sits right at the bottom of the box for max uncertainty. Could be a spicy night
