Last night we had about 30 refugees and immigrants come in to apply for the #refcode coding class--one person flew in from Philadelphia just to apply! The number of students that we can accept depends on how many in-person TAs we have, and we need more volunteers! Know anyone?

This is what bothers me the most about coding school hype and bootcamps. "Fuck college, just learn to code, bro" doesn't work as well when you're in the marginalized population. These programs are aggressively marketed to those who are likely to get the least value from them

It’s quite obvious most of these execs and investors are completely out of touch and trying to score internet points. Don’t tell me higher education doesn’t matter. Show me your company/portfolio full of startup execs who lack college degrees. You don’t have one? Shut up then.
