For those who can remember what happened (checks notes) three years ago. God there’s been so much s*** since then. For @Gizmodo
Very dank environs here at Apple’s “Pro and Tell” Mac showcase today. Is anybody else getting “Scary Fast” flashbacks?
All I want is a truly black MacBook. Or, give us Cosmic Orange to make it extra Halloween themed. For @Gizmodo

A BioWare dev on reddit leaked a Mass Effect 5 trailer... it's called MASS EFFECT UNIVERSE and it's fucking gorgeous. I'm crying. This is everything I wanted. They were a lot farther than we thought. FUCK EA
What could this mean? Well, the swipey nature of the thing seems to hint it has something about a touchscreen going on. iPads? Probably. Touchscreen Macs? Let's hope.
The new @analogue Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ seem to be solid upgrades over the ones that came out before 2020. I've also got some interesting info straight from the CEO about why these things aren't upscaling to 4K like the Analogue 3D. 1/2
“Moving to 4K does not uncover hidden texture detail or additional geometry. It primarily creates more display pixels with which to draw the same underlying artwork."2/3
“That is different from the Analogue 3D. Nintendo 64 games combine very low rendering resolutions with anti-aliasing, texture filtering, dithering, translucency, and other techniques designed around the behavior of a CRT." Read more here: gizmodo.com/analogue-super-n…

The discourse, to the extent that it really exists at all any more on social, has been unusually abysmal around Gears: E-Day.

Man it’s been a couple of days now and I’m finally in the acceptance phase of me longer being an employee at IGN Entertainment. I was laid off/terminated this past Monday after 17+ years of service. That’s a long time to work for one company and I tricked myself into believing
Genshin Impact is completely unplayable on the Pixel 11 Pro XL. Everything is purple
This is just unacceptable on a $1,300 phone
“Nobody buys a Pixel to game” is not a valid excuse. It’s a $1,300 phone. It should be able to do everything another $1,300 phone can
Buy South of Midnight. It is a beautiful game that takes so many swings and hits most of them.
"We would rather eat rocks and drink gasoline than be split up" - Compulsion Games has officially completed its buyout from Xbox and now owns all its IP.
Players who buy games like South of Midnight are now supporting the studio directly, its CEO says.

I concur on the second part.
Call me an optimist if you want, and certainly this is also just my interpretation as well - but Sony saying things like "cautiously" and "players have attachments" indicates to me that they realize they have to nail this.
Which was my point the whole time - whether the future is digital or not, gamers should not relent until Sony convinces us the digital future will be fair and worth buying into.
I can easily be convinced to get a PS6 that has only digital next-gen games...but you have to convince me. You have to give in addition to taking. I have to know that my games are owned by me, my old games are still playable, and I will benefit from this.
Until Sony (and frankly their competitors) address these things...the backlash should continue.
Having listened to the full Q&A section, it's clear that Sony isn't reversing the decision to stop producing new game discs in 2028.
However, and this is only my interpretation, it does seem like they are looking into solutions for those with PS5 disc games. No indication of what that would be but If I was to guess it might be a disc drive add on for legacy games or some type of disc to digital program.
The issue is, this is something Sony should have announced alongside the disc announcement, because right now a lot of the backlash is from the uncertainty around existing disc games, digital game rights, and PS6.
