As a movie nerd I’m often asked for recommendations, so I’ve decided to recommend a movie I’ve rated a 9 or 10/10, one each day Daily movie recommendation number 165: Flipping to the less widely seen, it's my favorite Werner Herzog doc, Encounters at the End of the World! Have you seen it?

#writingcommunity whenever you’re struggling to come up with character names, just remember there are tons of weird names out there for real people, maybe don’t stress so much about it.

Happy birthday to the Queen of the authors, my hero, Ursula K. Le Guin. She would’ve been 97 today.

Toshiro Mifune’s performance in this is my favorite of his 16 collaborations with Kurosawa, and in my top ten lead actor performances ever. Mifune was an actor of great power and dynamic energy, and the way he honed his work here, giving his quietest, most grounded performance, it’s extraordinary. Sadly their last project together, as Mifune was angry at having to have the big beard for this movie, throughout it’s troubled on-and-off production, making him miss out on a lot of money by not being able to take roles in other movies.

I swear the reason I keep Googling how to poison people with naturally growing plants is because the MC in my WIP is doing that, and the reason I’m Googling the effects and presentation of the poisoning in the body is because the other MC is investigating the murder.

Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out was released 39 years ago today. With the trifecta of this game, the Rocky movies, and Tyson’s actual fights all taking up huge space in my childhood and is what is responsible for creation of the love I have for boxing still today.
