BINANCE REPORTEDLY FOUGHT BACK AGAINST HACKERS IN REAL TIME, RECOVERING $823 MILLION IN USDC
According to an on-chain analysis, Binance’s wallet key remained functional even after attackers used a malicious EIP-7702 authorization to take control of the wallet.
Binance reportedly used its signing key to execute transactions through the compromised wallet, recovering $823 million in USDC.
The attackers had allegedly obtained 50 valid authorizations signed by the wallet key, with one successfully activating malicious code that drained 65 assets.
Even after Tether and Circle blacklisted the attacker’s address, the draining reportedly continued, including a $200 million USDT deposit swept just 100 seconds after arriving.

Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.

미래에셋, 온체인에 꽤 진심이네요.
지난 KBW 부스에 가보고 살짝 실망했는데, 미래에셋 홍콩법인이 이더리움과 솔라나에서 6개월 만기 채권(Funding Note)을 발행했습니다.
규모는 1,250만 달러(170억원).
소액이지만, 구조는 흥미로워요.
마치 공장에서 물건을 만들어 도매상에게 넘기듯,
발행과 관리는 미래에셋이 직접 하고, 판매(distribution)는 Marketnode가 맡았거든요.
Marketnode는 "토큰화의 다음 단계는 distribution"이라고 했는데, 발행보다 유통이 중요하다는 뉘앙스이고, 100% 동의합니다. 그래도 미래에셋에서 자체 엔지니어링 역량을 확보했다는 의의가 있죠.
다만 온체인금융 관점에서 아쉬운 점:
1. 이자 지급 방식은 Fiat 으로 보입니다. USDC 같은 스테이블코인으로 온체인 즉각 정산까지 붙였다면 진짜 혁신이었을 텐데요.
2. 채권이 이더리움과 솔라나로 분산되면서 파편화가 생기죠. 기관이 어느 체인에 어떤 스테이블코인을 들고 있든 원클릭으로 청약·결제할 수 있는 레일이 있었다면 유통 장벽이 더 낮아졌겠죠.
이런 크로스체인 결제의 마찰을 없애는 게 '온체인금융을 위한 실행 레이어'의 역할이고, @debridge가 가장 잘하는 영역입니다.
토큰화는 했는데, 그럼 누가 사고팔죠?
지난 주 KBW에서 나온 얘기인데, 자산을 토큰화하는 건 무척 쉬워요. 문제는 누가 이걸 사고파느냐죠.
기관 자금이 온체인으로 들어오려면 풍부한 '유동성'이 필요합니다. 시장이 흔들릴 때도 큰 물량을 사고팔 수 있어야 하거든요.
교보증권이 직접 해보니
· 주식·펀드: PoC는 쉬운데 규모가 문제
· 콘서트·부동산: 유동성도, 가치평가도 어려움
한 마디로, 대형 물량을 받아줄 시장조성자(MM)과 OTC 브로커가 필요한데, 높으신 분들은 과세와 규제에만 혈안이 되어서 이에 대해선 알기나 할까요.
여튼, RWA와 STO의 본질은 발행이 아니라 '유통', 곧 누가 어떻게 거래하게 할 것인가에 있다는 점을 다시 한번 느꼈네요.
