St. Michael the Archangel,  defend us in battle.  Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.  May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,  and do thou,  O Prince of the heavenly hosts,  by the power of God,  thrust into hell Satan,  and all the evil spirits,  who prowl about the world  seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Crystal clear explanation from WRN’s Ellie Evans on the dangers of the new Conversion Practices Bill to anyone who questions children who think they are ‘trans’. Parents who tell children they will likely ‘grow out’ of their gender confusion could be reported to the police, even jailed. Thank you @PatrickChristys for inviting us on the show. This is a dangerous Bill.

No photograph of St. Charbel was ever taken during his lifetime. The holy hermit, who died on Christmas Eve in 1898, lived in deep seclusion at the Hermitage of St. Peter and St. Paul in Annaya, Mount Lebanon. Only his fellow monks ever saw his face. More than 50 years later, on May 8, 1950, coincidentally the saint’s birthday.... four Maronite priests from Scranton, Pennsylvania, made a pilgrimage to the Monastery of St. Maroun in Annaya. Father George Webby took a photo of the group standing with a guard outside the monastery. When the film was developed, an unexpected figure appeared in the middle of the picture: an elderly monk with a white beard. Father Webby immediately showed the photograph to the elderly monks at the monastery. Without hesitation, they identified the man as St. Charbel. That image became the basis for every portrait and photo of the saint that followed, including those displayed in St. Peter’s Basilica during his beatification and canonization. The mysterious appearance remains one of the most well-known signs associated with the humble Lebanese hermit whose intercession continues to bring healing to many. Saint Charbel, pray for us!

Good conversation to have.
Friends, what is chastity—the second of the evangelical counsels? Though the clergy and religious practice chastity through celibacy, the virtue itself is just as applicable to the laity. Chastity simply means sexual uprightness or a rightly ordered sexuality—and this means bringing one’s sexual life under the aegis of love. As Thomas Aquinas taught, love is not a feeling but rather an act of the will—more precisely, willing the good of the other. It is the ecstatic act by which we break free from the ego, whose gravitational pull wants to draw everything to itself. Notice how the Church’s teaching that sex belongs within the context of marriage is meant to hold off this negative tendency. In saying that our sexuality should be subordinated to unity (the radical devotion to one’s spouse) and procreation (the radical devotion to one’s children), the Church is endeavoring to bring our sex lives completely under the umbrella of love. What would our country look like if, starting today, every Catholic lived out the counsel of chastity? We would make an enormous dent in the pornography business; human trafficking would be dramatically reduced; abortions would appreciably decrease; and families would be significantly strengthened.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,     on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,     as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation,     but deliver us from the evil one. Amen.

When we pray for the dead, we do so not only for them, but also with them, drawn into a reciprocal relationship that the Holy Spirit brings to life in our hearts. The Church is a mystery of communion between Christ, our head, and us, His members: from Him we receive life. This communion unites the blessed souls who already contemplate the face of God and all those who, in heaven or on earth, are journeying toward the radiant destination.
